Safety Information

  • Spoon & Tamper: For measuring and compacting ground coffee.
  • 51mm Single Cup Filter: For brewing a single shot of espresso with ground coffee.
  • 51mm Double Cup Filter: For brewing a double shot of espresso with ground coffee.
  • Cleaning Pin: Used for clearing blockages in the steam wand.

Setup

Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed and clean the water tank and portafilters with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.

  1. Fill the Water Tank: Remove the 1L removable water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with clean, fresh water up to the MAX line. Place the tank back securely.

  2. Initial Rinse Cycle: Place a large cup under the brewing head. Press the power button to turn on the machine. Once the indicator lights stop flashing, press the single cup button to run a cycle of hot water through the system. Repeat this process 2-3 times to clean the internal components.
  3. Pre-heat Cups: Place your espresso cups on the cup warming tray on top of the machine to pre-heat them.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Espresso with Coffee Powder

Follow these steps to brew espresso using ground coffee.

  1. Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (single or double) into the powder portafilter. Add ground coffee using the spoon, then tamp firmly with the tamper.
  2. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  3. Select Brewing Amount: Place your pre-heated cup(s) under the portafilter spouts. Press the desired brewing button (single or double shot). The machine will automatically stop when the selected volume is reached.

  4. Monitor Pressure: The built-in pressure gauge helps you achieve optimal extraction. Aim for the blue zone for ideal pressure.

Brewing Espresso with Nespresso Original Capsules

The Gevi Espresso Machine also supports Nespresso Original capsules.

  1. Insert Capsule: Open the capsule portafilter and correctly place a Nespresso Original capsule inside. Close the portafilter.
  2. Attach Portafilter: Align the capsule portafilter with the group head and twist it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  3. Brew: Place your cup under the portafilter. Press the desired brewing button (single or double shot). The machine will brew the coffee from the capsule.

Making Milk Froth

Create creamy milk froth for lattes and cappuccinos.

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  2. Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to the steam icon. Wait for the machine to heat up and the steam indicator light to become solid.
  3. Froth Milk: Submerge the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Turn the steam knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create microfoam.
  4. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly release steam into an empty cup to clear any internal milk.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use.

    • Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.

    • Rinse the portafilter and filter basket immediately after use.
  • Weekly Cleaning:
    • Clean the water tank with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
    • Use the cleaning pin to clear any blockages in the steam wand.
  • Descaling: Descale the machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines and follow the product's instructions.

Troubleshooting
