3.2 Mounting the Access Point
The EAP772 can be mounted on a ceiling or wall using the provided mounting kit. Follow these steps for installation:
- Prepare the Mounting Location: Choose a central location for optimal Wi-Fi coverage. Ensure there is access to an Ethernet cable for power (PoE) and data.
- Attach the Mounting Bracket: Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark drill holes on the ceiling or wall. Drill the holes and secure the bracket using the provided screws and anchors.
- Connect Ethernet Cable: Route the Ethernet cable through the opening in the mounting bracket and connect it to the 2.5G Ethernet port on the EAP772.
- Secure the Access Point: Align the EAP772 with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise until it locks securely into place.
3.3 Powering the Device
The EAP772 can be powered in two ways:
- Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect the EAP772 to a PoE-enabled switch (802.3bt/at compliant) or a PoE injector using an Ethernet cable. This method provides both power and data over a single cable.
- DC Power: If PoE is not available, connect a 12V DC power adapter (not included) to the DC power input port.
4. Setup and Configuration
The EAP772 can be managed via the Omada SDN platform or in standalone mode.
4.1 Omada SDN Integration
For centralized management of multiple Omada devices, integrate the EAP772 into your Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform. This requires an Omada Hardware Controller, Software Controller, or Cloud-based Controller.
- Connect to Omada Network: Ensure the EAP772 is connected to the same network as your Omada Controller.
- Discover and Adopt: Use the Omada Controller software or app to discover the EAP772 and adopt it into your network.
- Configure Settings: Once adopted, configure Wi-Fi settings, security protocols, and other network parameters through the Omada Controller interface.

Figure 4.1: Overview of the Omada SDN platform, illustrating how the EAP772 integrates with other network devices and various controller options for centralized management.
4.2 Standalone Mode Configuration
For single device management, the EAP772 can be configured directly via its web interface.
- Connect to the EAP772: Connect your computer directly to the EAP772's Ethernet port or connect to its default Wi-Fi network (SSID and password can be found on the device label).
- Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.0.254 or check the installation guide). Log in using the default credentials (admin/admin).
- Configure Wi-Fi Settings: Navigate to the wireless settings to set up your desired SSIDs, security types (WPA3 recommended), and passwords for the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands.
- Save Settings: Apply and save your configurations.
