4. Operating Instructions
The GreenPan Rio Essence Wood cookware is designed for optimal performance and ease of use. Follow these guidelines for best results:
Stovetop Compatibility:
This cookware set is suitable for all stovetops, including induction, gas, electric, halogen, and ceramic. The innovative induction base ensures uniform heat distribution.

Heat Settings:
- Use low to medium heat for most cooking. The ceramic nonstick coating is highly efficient and retains heat well, so high heat is rarely necessary and can damage the nonstick surface over time.
- Only use high heat for boiling liquids.
- Avoid overheating empty pans.
Cooking with Nonstick:
- Always use a small amount of oil or butter for optimal nonstick performance and flavor.
- Use silicone, wooden, or heat-resistant plastic utensils to protect the nonstick surface. Avoid metal utensils, which can scratch the coating.
- The tempered glass lids with silicone rims allow you to monitor cooking progress without releasing heat or moisture.

5. Care and Maintenance
Cleaning:
- This cookware is dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. However, hand washing is recommended to prolong the life and appearance of the nonstick coating and wood-print handles.
- For hand washing, allow the cookware to cool completely before washing. Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads, as these can damage the nonstick surface.
- For stubborn food residue, soak the pan in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning.
- Dry thoroughly after washing to prevent water spots.

Storage:
When storing, place a soft cloth or pan protector between stacked pieces to prevent scratching the nonstick surface.
6. Troubleshooting
- Food Sticking: If food begins to stick, ensure you are using a small amount of cooking oil or butter. Overheating the pan or using metal utensils can degrade the nonstick coating over time. Always cook on low to medium heat. For best longevity of the nonstick surface, hand washing is recommended over frequent dishwasher use.
- Handle Discoloration/Burning: The wood-print handles are designed to stay cool, but direct exposure to high flames or improper placement on the burner can cause discoloration or damage. Ensure the pan is centered on the burner and flames do not extend up the sides of the pan. Always use oven mitts if handles become hot.
- Coating Degradation: While durable, extreme heat, abrasive cleaning, or metal utensils can compromise the nonstick coating. Follow care instructions carefully to maintain the coating's integrity.
