1. Introduction
The BSIDE U0 is a versatile and fully automatic digital multimeter, open jaw clamp meter, and voltage detector, designed for quick and efficient electrical measurements. Its compact size and automatic recognition features make it ideal for both professional electricians and beginners, especially in confined spaces. This manual provides essential information for safe and effective operation, setup, and maintenance of your device.
2. Safety Information
Always adhere to the following safety precautions to prevent personal injury or damage to the meter or equipment under test:
- Do not exceed the maximum input limits specified for each measurement range.
- Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. Such voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Before measuring current, ensure the circuit is de-energized and the meter is connected in series. For clamp measurements, ensure the jaw is fully closed around a single conductor.
- Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the insulation on the test leads is compromised.
- Always disconnect the test leads from the circuit before changing functions or ranges.
- Do not operate the meter in explosive gas, vapor, or dust environments.
- Refer to the specifications section for detailed measurement accuracy and safety standards (CE, CATIII 600V).

5. Setup
Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged and understand its basic components.
5.1 Charging the Battery
The BSIDE U0 comes with a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery. Use the provided USB charging cable to charge the device.
- Connect the small end of the charging cable to the charging port on the side of the multimeter.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (e.g., phone charger, computer USB port).
- The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. Charge until the indicator shows a full battery.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads (for contact measurements)
For measurements requiring direct contact, connect the test leads as follows:
- Insert the black test lead into the "COM" (Common) input jack.
- Insert the red test lead into the "INPUT" jack.

6. Operating Instructions
The BSIDE U0 is designed for fully automatic operation, simplifying most measurements.
6.1 Power On/Off
- Press the Power button (
) to turn the meter on. - The meter will automatically enter "AUTO" mode, ready to measure AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity.
- Press and hold the Power button to turn the meter off. The meter also features an auto power-off function after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Figure 6.1: The main display and control buttons of the BSIDE U0.
6.2 Automatic Measurement (Voltage, Resistance, Continuity)
In "AUTO" mode, the meter intelligently identifies the type of measurement:
- Voltage Measurement: Connect the test leads across the circuit or component. The meter will display AC or DC voltage automatically.
- Resistance Measurement: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the test leads across the resistor or component.
- Continuity Test: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the test leads across the points to be tested. A buzzer will sound if the resistance is less than 50Ω.
6.3 AC/DC Current Measurement (Open Jaw)
The open jaw design allows for non-contact current measurement. This is particularly useful for quick checks without breaking the circuit.
- Press the "A=" / "A~" button to switch to current measurement mode. The display will show "A=" for DC current or "A~" for AC current.
- For DC current, press the "ZERO" button before measurement to eliminate any offsets caused by the Earth's electromagnetic field.
- Place the single conductor (wire) to be measured within the open jaw of the meter. Ensure only one conductor is inside the jaw for accurate readings.
- Read the current value on the display.

6.4 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection
The NCV function allows you to detect the presence of AC voltage without making physical contact with the conductor.
- Press the "NCV" button to activate NCV mode.
- Bring the top end of the meter (where the NCV sensor is located) close to the conductor or outlet.
- The meter will beep and the LED indicator will flash with increasing frequency as it detects higher voltage or closer proximity to a live wire.
Figure 6.4: Using the NCV function to detect non-contact voltage.
6.5 Live Wire Search
This function helps identify live wires.
- Press the "LIVE" button to activate Live Wire Search mode.
- You can use this function non-contact (similar to NCV) or by inserting the red test lead into the "INPUT" jack and touching the probe to the conductor. The display will indicate "LIVE" and an alarm will sound if a live wire is detected.
6.6 LED Flashlight
To activate the built-in LED flashlight for working in dimly lit areas:
- Press the Flashlight button (
). - Press again to turn it off.
