Connecting to Your Computer

  1. Locate the USB-C port on the G-DRIVE ArmorATD, typically protected by a rubber flap.
  2. Open the rubber flap and securely insert one end of the provided USB-C to USB-C cable or USB-C to USB-A cable into the drive's port.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
  4. The drive will automatically power on, indicated by a solid LED light, and should appear as a removable storage device on your desktop or in your file explorer.

Initial Formatting (if needed)

The G-DRIVE ArmorATD is pre-formatted for macOS. If you are using a Windows operating system, you will need to reformat the drive to an exFAT or NTFS file system for optimal compatibility and performance. Refer to your operating system's documentation or the Quick Start Guide for detailed formatting instructions.

Operating Instructions

Data Transfer

Once connected, you can transfer files to and from your G-DRIVE ArmorATD using standard drag-and-drop or copy-paste methods. Simply locate the drive icon on your computer and manage your files as you would with any other storage device. With transfer rates up to 130MB/s read, large files and projects can be moved efficiently.

Power and Activity Indicator

The G-DRIVE ArmorATD features a small LED indicator light near the USB port. A solid light indicates that the drive is powered on and ready for use. A blinking light signifies active data transfer, indicating that files are currently being read from or written to the drive.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the exterior of your G-DRIVE ArmorATD, use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish or the protective bumper. Ensure the USB port cover is closed before cleaning to prevent moisture ingress.

Storage and Handling

While the G-DRIVE ArmorATD is designed for ruggedness, proper storage and handling will extend its lifespan. Store the drive in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. Although it features drop resistance, avoid unnecessary impacts or dropping the drive, especially during operation, to safeguard your data.

Safe Ejection

Always safely eject the G-DRIVE ArmorATD from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable. This prevents potential data corruption or loss. On macOS, drag the drive icon to the Trash or use the 'Eject' option in Finder. On Windows, click the 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' icon in the system tray and select the drive.
