3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your XGP X10 Motorcycle Intercom into your helmet.
3.1. Helmet Preparation
- Carefully remove the helmet's internal padding, especially around the ear areas, to expose the speaker pockets. Most helmets have designated voids for speakers.
3.2. Speaker Installation
- Identify the left and right speakers. The speaker with the shorter wire is typically for the side where the main unit will be mounted (usually the left side for throttle control). The longer wire connects to the opposite side.
- Place the speakers into the ear pockets of your helmet. Use the provided speaker pads or Velcro (if your helmet has it) to secure them. Ensure the speakers are positioned directly over your ears for optimal sound quality.
- Route the speaker wires neatly under the helmet padding. It is recommended to route excess wire towards the back of the helmet to keep it out of the way.
3.3. Microphone Installation
The X10 comes with two microphone options: a soft wire microphone and a boom microphone. Choose the one that best suits your helmet type and preference.
- Soft Wire Microphone: Ideal for full-face helmets. Attach it to the inside of the chin bar, close to your mouth, using the adhesive backing.
- Boom Microphone: Suitable for modular or open-face helmets. Attach the boom to the inside of the chin bar, positioning the microphone close to your mouth.
- Connect the chosen microphone to the designated port on the speaker wiring harness.
- Route the microphone wire along the helmet's interior, tucking it securely under the padding to prevent interference.
3.4. Main Unit Mounting
The main X10 unit can be mounted using either a 3M adhesive bracket or a clamp bracket.
- 3M Adhesive Bracket: Clean the desired mounting area on the side of your helmet. Peel off the backing from the 3M adhesive and firmly press the bracket onto the helmet. Allow sufficient time for the adhesive to bond.
- Clamp Bracket: Slide the clamp bracket onto the edge of your helmet, ensuring a secure fit. This option is often preferred for easy removal and reattachment.
- Once the bracket is securely attached, slide the X10 main unit onto the bracket until it clicks into place.
- Connect the main wiring harness (from the speakers and microphone) to the port on the bottom of the X10 main unit. Ensure all wires are neatly tucked away and do not interfere with helmet operation or comfort.

5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your XGP X10 intercom.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the main unit and speakers. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Charging: Charge the device using the provided USB-C cable. Avoid overcharging or using damaged cables.
- Storage: Store the intercom in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Water Resistance: While IP67 waterproof, avoid prolonged submersion or high-pressure water jets. Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed before exposure to water.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your XGP X10, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source and check the charging indicator.
- No Sound/Low Volume: Check the volume level on both the intercom and your connected device. Ensure speakers are correctly positioned over your ears. Some users have noted that volume can be low at higher speeds; ensure speakers are as close to the ear as possible.
- Intercom Disconnection: Ensure all units are within the effective range (up to 3km in mesh network). Re-initiate the one-click connection process.
- Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Turn off and restart both the intercom and your Bluetooth device. Clear previous Bluetooth connections on your device and try pairing again.
- Poor Microphone Quality: Ensure the microphone is positioned correctly near your mouth and not obstructed. Check for any damage to the microphone or its connection. DSP/CVC noise reduction should minimize background noise.
- Device Not Responding: Perform a hard reset (refer to the detailed manual for specific reset instructions, usually a long press of a combination of buttons).
