2. Safety Information

  • Power Supply: Use only the provided power adapter. Ensure the voltage matches your local power supply.

4. Product Overview

The NEW BAXS MX04-BT is a compact yet powerful 4-channel audio mixer. Below is a detailed look at its various components and their functions.

4.1 Input Section

  • MIC/LINE Inputs (1-4): Combination XLR and 1/4" (6.35mm) jacks for connecting microphones (dynamic or condenser) or line-level instruments.
  • +48V Phantom Power: Individual switches for each channel to supply 48V phantom power to condenser microphones. An indicator LED illuminates when active.
  • 16 DSP Effects: Built-in digital signal processing with 16 effects, including various reverbs, delays, karaoke modes, flanger, chorus, and voice changer.

  • MAIN OUT (L/R): XLR outputs for connecting to main speakers or amplifiers.

4.3 Channel Controls

  • GAIN Knob: Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel.
  • PAN Knob: Adjusts the stereo position (left to right) of the channel's signal.
  • HI/MID/LOW Knobs: 3-band equalizer for adjusting high, mid, and low frequencies of each channel.
  • AUX Knob: Controls the level of the channel's signal sent to the AUX output.
  • EFF Knob: Controls the level of the channel's signal sent to the effects engine.
  • Channel Fader: Adjusts the overall volume level of each individual channel.
  • PEAK LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high, indicating potential clipping.
  • MUTE Button: Mutes the audio output for the corresponding channel.

  • EFFECTS ENGINE: Knob to select one of the 16 built-in DSP effects.
  • REPEAT Knob: Adjusts the repetition rate for delay and reverb effects.
  • PARAMETER Knob: Adjusts a specific parameter of the selected effect.
  • FX TO AUX Knob: Controls the level of the effects signal sent to the AUX output.

5. Setup Guide

5.1 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the 'DC IN' port on the rear of the mixer.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
  3. Press the 'POWER' switch to turn on the mixer. The POWER LED will illuminate.

5.2 Connecting Microphones and Instruments

  1. For dynamic microphones or line-level instruments, connect them to the MIC/LINE input jacks (1-4) using XLR or 1/4" cables.
  2. For condenser microphones, connect them to the MIC/LINE input jacks (1-4) using XLR cables. Activate the corresponding +48V PHANTOM switch for the channel. The red LED next to the switch will light up.

5.3 Connecting Output Devices

  1. Main Speakers/Amplifier: Connect your main speakers or amplifier to the 'MAIN OUT' XLR ports or the 'L OUT / R OUT' 1/4" ports.
  2. Headphones: Plug your headphones into the 'PHONES' 1/4" jack for monitoring.
  3. Auxiliary Devices: Connect external recording devices or additional speakers to the 'AUX OUT' 1/4" port.

5.4 Bluetooth Connection

  1. Press the 'MODE' button on the media player section until 'BLUE' appears on the digital display.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, computer), search for available Bluetooth devices.
  3. Select 'NEW BAXS MX04-BT' from the list to pair. Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly to the mixer.

5.5 USB Playback and Recording

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the 'USB' port.
  2. Press the 'MODE' button until 'USB' appears on the digital display.

  4. To record, press the 'REC' button. The display will show recording time. Press 'REC' again to stop recording.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Adjusting Channel Levels

  1. Set all channel faders and the MAIN L/R faders to their lowest position before starting.
  2. Connect your audio source to a channel input.
  3. Slowly increase the 'GAIN' knob for that channel until the 'PEAK' LED flashes occasionally during the loudest parts of the signal. Then slightly reduce the gain until the LED no longer flashes.
  4. Slowly raise the channel fader to the desired level.
  5. Adjust the 'MAIN L/R' faders to control the overall output volume. Monitor the 'PEAK/LEVEL' indicators to avoid clipping.

6.2 Using the Equalizer (EQ)

  1. Channel EQ (HI/MID/LOW): Use these knobs on each channel to fine-tune the tone of individual inputs. Adjust 'HI' for treble, 'MID' for mid-range, and 'LOW' for bass frequencies.
  2. 7-Band Graphic Equalizer: Use the sliders on the 'STEREO GRAPHIC EQUALIZER' section to adjust the overall frequency response of the main mix. This allows for global tone shaping.

6.3 Applying DSP Effects

  1. Turn the 'EFFECTS ENGINE' knob to select one of the 16 available effects. The selected effect number will be displayed.
  2. Use the 'REPEAT' and 'PARAMETER' knobs to adjust the characteristics of the chosen effect.
  3. For each channel you wish to apply the effect to, increase the 'EFF' knob on that channel until the desired amount of effect is heard.
  4. The 'FX TO AUX' knob controls how much of the effect is sent to the auxiliary output.

Connect headphones to the 'PHONES' jack to monitor the main mix. This allows you to hear the audio precisely as it is being mixed, helping you make accurate adjustments to levels, EQ, and effects without affecting the main output to the audience.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the mixer's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are neatly organized and not under tension to prevent damage to connectors and ports.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound Output:
    • Check if the mixer is powered on and the 'POWER' LED is lit.
    • Ensure all input and output cables are securely connected.
    • Verify that channel faders and 'MAIN L/R' faders are raised.
    • Check if any 'MUTE' buttons are active on channels or the main output.
    • Confirm that connected speakers/amplifiers are powered on and functioning.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the 'GAIN' knob on the input channel if the 'PEAK' LED is constantly lit.
    • Lower the channel faders or 'MAIN L/R' faders if the output level indicators are consistently in the red.
    • Check the EQ settings; extreme adjustments can cause distortion.
  • Bluetooth Connection Issues:
    • Ensure the mixer is in 'BLUE' mode (indicated on the display).
    • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and it's within range.
    • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
  • USB Playback/Recording Not Working:
    • Ensure the USB drive is properly inserted and the mixer is in 'USB' mode.
    • Check the file format of your audio files (MP3/WAV/WMA are supported).
    • For recording, ensure the USB drive has sufficient free space.
