Setup
1. Assembly
The NXR Portable Gas Grill requires some assembly. Follow the detailed instructions provided in the separate assembly guide included with your product. Ensure all components are securely fastened before proceeding.
- Unpack all components and verify against the parts list.
- Attach the legs and handle as per the assembly guide.
- Install the cooking grates and heat deflectors.
2. Connecting the Gas Cylinder
This grill is designed for use with a standard 20 lb (9.1 kg) propane gas cylinder (not included). Ensure the cylinder is upright and on a level surface.
- Ensure all burner control knobs are in the "OFF" position.
- Connect the regulator hose to the gas cylinder valve. Turn the coupling nut clockwise until it is fully tightened. Do not overtighten.
- Open the gas cylinder valve slowly, turning it counter-clockwise.
3. Leak Test
Perform a leak test every time the gas cylinder is connected or if you suspect a leak.
- Prepare a soap and water solution (50/50 mix).
- Ensure all burner knobs are "OFF".
- Open the gas cylinder valve.
- Apply the solution to all gas connections, including the hose, regulator, and manifold connections.
- Look for bubbles. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Close the gas cylinder valve immediately and tighten the connection. Repeat the test. If bubbles persist, do not use the grill and contact customer support.
- Rinse off any soap solution after testing.
Operating Instructions
1. Lighting the Grill
- Ensure the gas cylinder valve is fully open.
- Open the grill lid.
- Push in and turn one burner control knob to the "HIGH" position.
- Press the igniter button repeatedly until the burner lights. You should hear a clicking sound and see a flame.
- If the burner does not light within 5 seconds, turn the knob to "OFF", wait 5 minutes for gas to dissipate, and repeat the lighting procedure.
- Once one burner is lit, you can light the other burners by turning their respective knobs to "HIGH".
2. Preheating
After lighting, close the lid and allow the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes on high heat. This helps to burn off any manufacturing residues and ensures the cooking grates are hot enough for optimal cooking.
3. Temperature Control
Adjust the burner control knobs to achieve the desired cooking temperature. Turn the knobs towards "LOW" for lower heat and "HIGH" for maximum heat. The three independent burners allow for direct and indirect cooking zones.
4. Shutting Down the Grill
- Turn all burner control knobs to the "OFF" position.
- Close the gas cylinder valve by turning it clockwise until fully closed.
- Allow the grill to cool completely before moving or cleaning.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your grill and ensure optimal performance.
1. Cleaning the Cooking Grates
- After each use, once the grill has cooled, brush off any food residue from the grates using a grill brush.
- For deeper cleaning, remove the grates and wash with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reinstalling.
2. Cleaning the Grease Tray
- Regularly check and empty the grease tray (Figure 6).
- Remove the tray and dispose of accumulated grease safely.
- Wash the tray with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
3. Exterior Cleaning
- Wipe down the stainless steel surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild detergent or stainless steel cleaner.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can scratch the finish.
4. Storage
When not in use, store the grill in a dry, protected area. Disconnect the gas cylinder and store it outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
