3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Your Timex Expedition Field Solar Watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, expose the dial to a strong light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. A full charge can last up to 4 months in darkness.

3.2 Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the furthest position.
  2. Rotate the crown in either direction to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back in to its original position. The watch will begin to run.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Timekeeping

The watch continuously displays the current time (hours, minutes, seconds) once properly set and charged.

4.2 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet). This rating means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or prolonged water immersion. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.

4.3 Luminescent Hands and Markers

The hands and dial markings are treated with a luminescent material that absorbs light and glows in low-light conditions. Exposure to bright light will enhance the glow.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean your watch, wipe the case and strap with a soft, damp cloth. For the silicone strap, mild soap and water can be used, then rinse thoroughly and dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2 Maintaining Charge

To ensure continuous operation, regularly expose your watch to light. While it can hold a charge for up to 4 months in darkness, consistent exposure to ambient light will keep it fully powered.

5.3 Storage

When storing the watch for extended periods, place it in an area where it can receive some light to prevent the charge from depleting completely.
