Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts, including the grinder unit, dosing cup, bellows, and cleaning brush, are present.
2. Placement: Place the grinder on a stable, flat surface. Ensure it is near a power outlet and away from water sources.
3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 110V electrical outlet.
4. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, it is recommended to run a small amount of sacrificial beans through the grinder to season the burrs and clear any manufacturing residue.

Operating Instructions

1. Grind Adjustment

The DF54 features a stepless grind adjustment dial, allowing for precise control over your grind size. Rotate the chrome ring to select your desired fineness. Turning towards 'FINE' will result in a finer grind, suitable for espresso, while turning towards 'COARSE' will produce a coarser grind for methods like pour-over or French press.

2. Dosing and Grinding

1. Prepare Beans: Measure the desired amount of whole coffee beans for a single dose (typically 18-20 grams for espresso).
2. Add Beans: Remove the wooden lid and bellows from the top of the grinder. Pour the measured coffee beans into the hopper. Replace the bellows and lid.
3. Position Dosing Cup: Place the included 58mm transparent plastic dosing cup onto the magnetic portafilter rest. The rest can also accommodate a 58mm portafilter directly.

4. Start Grinding: Press the power button located on the side of the grinder to begin grinding. It is recommended to start the grinder before adding beans for optimal performance and to prevent motor strain.

5. Use Bellows: Once grinding is complete, gently press the bellows a few times to clear any remaining coffee grounds from the grinding chamber and chute. This ensures minimal retention.

3. Anti-Static Feature

The DF54 is equipped with a Plasma Generator (ionizer) wrapping around the exit chute. This technology significantly reduces static electricity in the ground coffee, preventing mess and ensuring a cleaner workflow. The integrated anti-popcorn disc also helps prevent beans from jumping and increases grinding speed.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Chute and Burrs

Regular cleaning is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent coffee grounds from accumulating. Use the provided cleaning brush to clear the exit chute after each use. 2. General Care

• Wipe the exterior of the grinder with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

Troubleshooting

• Excessive Static: While the grinder has an anti-static feature, some static may occur, especially with certain bean types or environmental conditions. Using fresh, higher-quality coffee beans can often reduce static. Ensure the chute is clean.
