6. Setup

Follow these steps to connect your satellite finder:

  1. Connect to LNB: Connect the cable from your satellite dish's LNB (Low Noise Block) to the "Satellite" port on the left side of the SF-95DR.
  2. Connect to Receiver/TV Box: Connect a cable from the "Receiver" port on the right side of the SF-95DR to your satellite receiver or TV box. The satellite receiver will provide the necessary 13-18V DC power to the satellite finder.
  3. Power On: Ensure your satellite receiver is powered on. The SF-95DR's LED display should illuminate, indicating it is receiving power.

Refer to Figure 4.2 for a visual representation of the connection setup.

7. Operating Instructions

Once connected and powered, you can begin aligning your satellite dish.

7.1 Initial Dish Alignment (Using Compass)

  • Before fine-tuning, use the integrated compass on the SF-95DR to get a general direction for your satellite dish. Consult your satellite provider for the correct azimuth (horizontal direction) for your location.
  • Roughly point your dish in the direction indicated by the compass and your satellite provider's specifications.

7.2 Adjusting Signal Strength

  1. Adjust Attenuation (ATT): If the signal strength displayed on the LED screen is too high (e.g., consistently at 99% or maxed out), press the "ATT Reducing Key" (right arrow) to decrease the sensitivity. If the signal is too low, press the "ATT Increasing Key" (left arrow) to increase sensitivity. The goal is to get a reading in the middle range (e.g., 50-70%) for optimal fine-tuning.
  2. Fine-tuning with Adjustable Knob: Use the adjustable knob on the side of the device to further fine-tune the signal strength. Turn the knob slowly to find the peak signal.
  3. Monitor LED Display: The LED display will show the current signal strength percentage. Aim for the highest possible stable reading.
  4. Listen for Buzzer: The electronic buzzer will emit a tone that changes in pitch or frequency as the signal strength increases. A higher pitch or faster beeping indicates a stronger signal.

7.3 Using Backlight and Buzzer

  • Light Button: Press the "Light" button to activate the LED backlight for the display, useful in low-light conditions. Press again to turn it off.
  • Buzzer Button: Press the "Buzzer" button to toggle the audio signal strength indicator on or off.

Slowly adjust the azimuth and elevation of your satellite dish while monitoring the signal strength on the SF-95DR's display and listening to the buzzer. Make small adjustments until you achieve the maximum possible signal strength.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the satellite finder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Connections: Periodically check cable connections for wear or damage. Ensure F-connectors are securely tightened.

9. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/No Power:

Ensure the satellite receiver is powered on and providing 13-18V DC. Check all cable connections between the LNB, satellite finder, and receiver.

  • No Signal Reading:

Verify that the LNB is correctly connected and functioning. Ensure the dish is pointed in the general direction of the satellite. Adjust the ATT sensitivity using the buttons.

  • Signal Too High (Maxed Out):

Press the "ATT Reducing Key" to decrease the sensitivity until the signal reading is in a workable range (e.g., 50-70%).

  • Inconsistent Signal:

Check for loose cable connections. Ensure there are no obstructions between the dish and the satellite. Weather conditions (heavy rain, snow) can also affect signal stability.

10. Warranty and Support
