3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge your GPD WIN Mini. Connect the provided USB-C charger to one of the USB-C ports (Type-C USB4 or Full Function Type-C) on the device. The charging indicator light will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged.

3.2 Powering On/Off

• To Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side or top edge) until the screen illuminates.
• To Power Off: From the Windows desktop, click the Start button, then Power, and select "Shut down." Alternatively, press and hold the power button for several seconds until the device powers off.

3.3 Windows 11 Initial Setup

Upon first power-on, you will be guided through the Windows 11 setup process. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure language, region, network connection, and user accounts.

3.4 Connecting to Wi-Fi

During Windows 11 setup or anytime thereafter, access the Wi-Fi settings to connect to a wireless network. Select your desired network and enter the password if prompted.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Gamepad Controls

The GPD WIN Mini features integrated gamepad controls for an optimized gaming experience. These include dual Hall effect joysticks, a D-pad, action buttons (A, B, X, Y), shoulder buttons (L1, R1), and trigger buttons (L2, R2).

• Joystick Functionality: The Hall effect joysticks provide precise, drift-free input. Pressing the joysticks down activates L3 and R3 functions.
• Gyroscope: The built-in 6-axis gyroscope allows for motion-controlled input in supported games.
• Gamepad/Mouse Toggle: Use the dedicated Gamepad/Mouse Toggle key (refer to Figure 2.1, item 8) to switch between gamepad and mouse input modes for the joysticks.

4.2 Keyboard and Touchpad

The integrated QWERTY keyboard and touchpad allow for traditional PC input. The touchpad supports multi-touch gestures for navigation.

• Backlight Control: Adjust the keyboard backlight intensity using the designated function keys (Fn + F10/F11, consult device markings).
• Programmable Macro Keys: Utilize the programmable macro keys (refer to Figure 2.1, items 1 and 13) for custom shortcuts or in-game commands.

4.3 Display Settings

The 7-inch LTPS display supports variable refresh rates of 60Hz and 120Hz. You can adjust this setting within Windows Display Settings to suit your preference or game requirements.

4.4 Audio Settings

The GPD WIN Mini features AAC stereo speakers and supports DTS:X Ultra for enhanced audio. Access Windows Sound Settings to configure audio output, volume levels, and DTS:X Ultra enhancements.

4.5 Oculink Interface

The Oculink interface provides a direct PCIe Gen4 x 4 connection, offering 63Gbps bandwidth. This port is designed for connecting external graphics solutions, such as the GPD G1 Mobile Docking Station, to boost graphical performance.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Device

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Device Not Powering On

• Ensure the device is fully charged. Connect it to the charger and wait a few minutes before attempting to power on again.
• Try holding the power button for 10-15 seconds to perform a hard reset.

6.2 Overheating

The GPD WIN Mini is a powerful device, and some heat generation is normal during intensive use. However, if the device becomes uncomfortably hot:

• Ensure the exhaust vents are not obstructed.
• Reduce the power limit (TDP) of the CPU through system settings or third-party tools if available. A TDP of 15W is generally comfortable for extended use, while higher TDPs (e.g., 28W) may generate more heat.
