5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Verify product model and door size compatibility with your RV.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the installation area.
- Gather necessary tools (screwdriver, wrench, sealant, etc.).
- Confirm gas and water supply lines are accessible and can be shut off.
5.2 Installation Steps
The following steps outline the general installation process. For detailed visual guidance, please refer to the installation video below.
Video 1: Installation guide for replacing a Suburban Storage Water Heater with a FOGATTI RV Gas Water Heater.
Step 1: Disconnect Old Unit
- Turn off the RV's main power supply and the water heater's power switch.
- Close the main water valve and the gas valve.
- Open the exterior access panel of the old water heater.
- Disconnect electrical wiring (refer to your old unit's wiring diagram for specific connections).
- Disconnect water inlet and outlet pipes.
- Open the pressure relief valve to drain water and relieve pressure.
- Remove mounting screws and carefully extract the old water heater unit.
Step 2: Install New FOGATTI InstaShower 9 Pro
- Carefully slide the new FOGATTI InstaShower 9 Pro into the existing opening.
- Secure the unit to the RV wall using appropriate screws and seal the edges with butyl tape to prevent leaks.
- Connect the cold water inlet pipe (typically blue hose) and hot water outlet pipe (typically red hose).
- Connect the gas inlet pipe.
- Connect the RV gas water heater DC power cord positive (black wire) to the power positive (red wire) at position #1 as per the wiring diagram.
- Connect the RV gas water heater DC power cord negative (white wire) to the power negative (black wire) in position #3 as per the wiring diagram.
- Pass the wire controller connection wire through the designated hole.
- Remove the wire controller bottom cover, secure it, and place insulating film over screws.
- Install the line controller to the bottom cover.
- Pull the cord of the line controller to the product, connect it to the cord of the product.

Step 3: Post-Installation Checks

- For extended periods of non-use in freezing temperatures, it is highly recommended to drain the water heater completely to prevent potential damage.
- Consult your RV's manual for specific winterization procedures for your entire water system, including water lines and tanks.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 Common Issues and Solutions
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No hot water | No gas supply | Check gas tank level and ensure gas valve is fully open. |
| No water flow | Ensure water pump is on and water valves are open. Check for kinks or blockages in water lines. | |
| Power supply off | Check RV's main power and the water heater's dedicated power switch. | |
| Ignition failure | Refer to the remote controller for any error codes displayed. If the issue persists, contact customer support. | |
| Inconsistent water temperature | Low water flow | Increase water flow to meet the minimum GPM requirement for stable heating. |
| Excessive mixing at faucet | Adjust hot and cold water separately to find the desired temperature. Avoid rapid changes. | |
| Gas leakage detected | Loose gas connection | Turn off gas supply immediately. Tighten connections and perform a gas seal test with soapy water. If the leak persists, contact a qualified technician. |
| Unit not turning on | No power | Check the 12V DC power supply to the unit. |
| Remote controller issue | Ensure the remote controller is properly connected and within its operational range. |
