Transmitter and Receiver Pairing Compatibility

Refer to the table below for detailed compatibility between various Flysky transmitters and receivers, including the FS-R4P.

Flysky Transmitter and Receiver Compatibility Table

Figure 4: Detailed compatibility matrix for Flysky transmitters and receivers. This table provides a comprehensive guide to which transmitters are compatible with various receivers, including the FS-R4P, indicating full or semi-compatibility.

Note:

  • "✓" indicates semi-compatible, representing that the basic channel signal output can be used.
  • One-way transmitters match two-way receivers.
  • Some transmitters match gyroscope receivers, barometer receivers, etc. However, they can only be used as ordinary receivers.
  • For FS-R4B and FS-R4P, the one-way mode of the transmitter is used for binding. For HW-709, HW-711, FS-R4A, FS-R4A1 and FS-R4D-ESC the two-way mode of the transmitter is used for binding.

Setup and Binding

To ensure proper operation, the FS-R4P receiver must be correctly bound to a compatible Flysky transmitter. The binding process typically involves putting both the transmitter and receiver into binding mode. Refer to your specific Flysky transmitter's manual for detailed binding instructions, as the procedure may vary slightly between models.

Connecting the Receiver

The FS-R4P features a PWM data port for connecting to your RC model's electronic speed controller (ESC), servos, and other components. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly oriented according to your model's wiring diagram.

FS-R4P Receiver Pin Connectors

Figure 5: Close-up view of the FS-R4P receiver's pin connectors. This image clearly shows the PWM output pins, indicating where to connect servos and other components for proper functionality.

Power Supply: The receiver operates within a voltage range of 3.5V to 8.4V. Ensure your power source (e.g., battery eliminator circuit - BEC from ESC, or separate receiver battery) provides voltage within this range to prevent damage.

Operation

Once the receiver is successfully bound to your transmitter and all components are connected, you can begin operating your RC model. Ensure the transmitter is powered on first, followed by the receiver. Always perform a range check before operating your model at a distance, especially in new environments.

Signal Range

The FS-R4P receiver offers a ground range of 100 to 300 meters. Factors such as environmental interference, obstacles, and battery levels can affect the actual operational range. Always maintain a clear line of sight to your model and avoid operating near large metal structures or strong electromagnetic sources.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the lifespan of your FS-R4P receiver and ensure reliable performance.

  • Keep Clean: Regularly clean the receiver to prevent dust and debris buildup, which can affect performance. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air.
  • Avoid Moisture: While the receiver has some water resistance (IPX4 rating), avoid prolonged exposure to water or high humidity. If it gets wet, dry it thoroughly before use.
  • Temperature Control: Operate and store the receiver within its specified temperature range (-10℃ to +60℃). Extreme temperatures can damage internal components.
  • Secure Connections: Periodically check all wire connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FS-R4P receiver, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Signal/Loss of Control:
    • Ensure the receiver is properly bound to the transmitter.
    • Check battery levels of both transmitter and receiver.
    • Verify all connections are secure.
    • Check for potential interference sources in the operating environment.
    • Ensure the antenna is not obstructed or damaged.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Check for loose wiring or damaged connectors.
    • Ensure the receiver is not overheating.
    • Verify the power supply voltage is stable and within the specified range.
  • Servos Not Responding:
    • Confirm servos are correctly plugged into the PWM channels.
    • Test servos with a different receiver or servo tester to rule out servo issues.
    • Check transmitter settings for channel assignments and endpoints.

If problems persist after attempting these steps, contact GoolRC customer support for further assistance.
