Wiring Steps:

  1. Connect the B- terminal of the shunt to the negative terminal of your battery.
  2. Connect the L- terminal of the shunt to the negative terminal of your load.
  3. Connect the C- terminal of the shunt to the negative terminal of your charger.
  4. Connect the B+ terminal of the shunt to the positive terminal of your battery.
  5. Connect the L+ terminal of the shunt to the positive terminal of your load.
  6. Connect the C+ terminal of the shunt to the positive terminal of your charger.
  7. Connect the provided signal cable from the shunt to the display unit.
  8. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

Caution: Incorrect wiring can damage the device or connected components. Always ensure power is disconnected before making any connections.

5. Operating Instructions

The DROK Digital Multimeter provides various functions accessible through its buttons and display. The display shows real-time data for voltage, current, power, energy, remaining capacity percentage, and time.

Function Settings:

Access the settings menu by pressing the appropriate button on the device. Use the up/down arrows to navigate and the OK button to select or confirm.

  • CLR (Current Clear Function): If the no-load current is not zero, short press the ▲ (up arrow) button within this function to clear the no-load current.
  • BAT (Set Battery Total Capacity): Use this to set the total capacity of your battery in Ampere-hours (AH).
  • BPC (Set Available Capacity Percentage): Adjust the displayed available capacity percentage.
  • LED (Set LCD Screen Backlight Brightness): Adjust backlight brightness from Level 0 to 10.
  • STE (Set Screen Turn Off Time): Configure the time after which the screen will automatically turn off if no activity is detected.
  • STI (Set Current Value for Turning Off Screen): The screen will automatically turn off if the measured current falls below this set value. It will turn back on if the current exceeds this value.
  • BKC (Set Screen Display Colors): Choose between two display color schemes: black-white or colorful.
  • LAG (Set Language): Select the display language (English/Chinese).
  • LVP (Low Voltage Alarm): Set a low voltage threshold. When the battery voltage drops below this LVP value, the capacity will automatically clear, and an alarm may activate.
  • LBR (Backlight Alarm): Enable or disable the backlight alarm. When enabled, the backlight will flash if the remaining capacity is below 20% or voltage is lower than LVP. It will also flash if the charging current is higher than STI.
  • ADS (Communication Address): Used for communication settings (advanced users).
  • PAI (Current Clear Value): After no-load current clear, if the shunt causes a non-zero current reading, set PAI. When the current is lower than this set value, the displayed current will be zero.
  • OVP (Max Capacity Voltage Value): When the battery voltage exceeds this OVP value, the capacity will automatically fill up (reset to 100%).

Applications:

This multimeter is versatile and can be used in various scenarios:

  • Battery charge/discharge testing for automotive and car batteries.
  • Battery capacity monitoring for solar panel systems.
  • Voltage, ampere, and power monitoring for RVs and boats.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your DROK Digital Multimeter, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the plastic.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Loose connections can lead to inaccurate readings or potential hazards.
  • Protective Cover: Keep the clear protective cover in place to shield the display from dust and moisture, especially in outdoor or harsh environments.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DROK Digital Multimeter, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Display/Power:
    • Check all power connections to ensure they are secure and correctly wired according to the diagram.
    • Verify that the input voltage is within the specified 8-100V DC range.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the shunt is correctly installed in the negative line of the circuit.
    • Check for loose or corroded connections at the shunt and display unit.
    • Perform a 'CLR' (Current Clear) function if the no-load current is not zero.
    • Verify that the 'BAT' (Total Capacity) setting is correctly configured for your battery.
  • Backlight Flashing Unexpectedly:
    • Check the 'LVP' (Low Voltage Alarm) and 'LBR' (Backlight Alarm) settings. The backlight may be flashing due to low voltage or low remaining capacity.
    • If charging, check the 'STI' (Screen Turn Off Current) setting, as the backlight can flash if charging current exceeds this value.
  • Screen Turns Off Automatically:
    • Review the 'STE' (Screen Turn Off Time) setting.
    • Review the 'STI' (Screen Turn Off Current) setting. The screen will turn off if the current drops below this value.
