2. Product Features

  • Extreme Weather Durability: Designed for harsh outdoor conditions with IP67 waterproof enclosure, 15kV ESD protection, and 6kV lightning protection. Operates reliably in rain, snow, wind, and thunderstorms. Features high-gain fiberglass tube antennas resistant to strong winds and corrosion.
  • True WiFi 6 Speed: Complies with IEEE 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n standards, supporting dual-band speeds of up to 2402Mbps on 5GHz and 573Mbps on 2.4GHz. Provides ultra-fast internet speeds for HD video streaming and smooth gaming outdoors.
  • Flexible PoE Power Options: Supports both 802.3AF/AT active PoE and passive PoE, allowing data transmission and power supply through a single Ethernet cable. Ideal for outdoor installations where power outlets are not readily available. (Note: PoE converter is not waterproof. Use CAT5E or higher cables, not exceeding 100 meters).
  • Seamless WiFi Roaming: Equipped with 4x8dBi omni-directional antennas and two built-in high-power amplifiers for excellent WiFi coverage and penetration. Supports Mesh technology, enabling more device connections with one-click setup, significantly expanding WiFi coverage and eliminating dead zones.
  • Multiple Operating Modes: Supports Mesh, AP, Router, Repeater, and AP+Repeater modes to meet various outdoor connectivity needs. Router/AP modes are best for converting wired connections to wireless, while Mesh mode provides seamless WiFi with a single network name and password.

4. Assembly & Installation

4.1 Physical Assembly

  1. Attach Antennas: Carefully screw the four omni-directional antennas onto the device. Note that there are specific 2.4GHz and 5GHz antennas; ensure they are installed in the correct ports as indicated on the device.
  2. Connect Ethernet Cable: Pass the RJ45 Ethernet cable through the waterproof connector cover. Connect the RJ45 cable to the WAN/LAN port on the device. Screw the waterproof connector bracket tightly to secure the connection.
  3. Power Connection (PoE): Connect the power plug to the 'DC IN (37-57V)' port of the PoE converter. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet. Connect the 'PoE' port of the PoE converter with an Ethernet cable to the WAN/LAN port of the device. Connect the 'LAN DATA IN' port of the PoE converter via another Ethernet cable to a 'LAN' port on your router.

4.2 Mounting the Device

  1. Apply Silicone Pads: Stick two silicone pads onto the bracket and the pole where the device will be mounted.
  2. Secure with Cable Ties: Thread the provided cable ties through the fixing points of the bracket. Fix the device to the pole using the cable ties, ensuring it is securely fastened.

5. Operating Modes

The WAVLINK AX3000 supports several operating modes to suit various network requirements:

  • Repeater Mode: Extends the range of an existing wireless network. The device connects to your main router's WiFi signal and broadcasts a new, stronger WiFi signal to cover a larger area.
  • AP (Access Point) Mode: Converts a wired network connection into a wireless one. Connect the device to your router via an Ethernet cable, and it will create a new WiFi hotspot.
  • Router Mode: Functions as a primary router, connecting directly to your modem to create a new wireless network.
  • Mesh Mode: Creates a seamless mesh WiFi system with other compatible WAVLINK mesh devices. This provides unified network coverage with a single SSID and password, allowing devices to roam freely without disconnections.
  • AP+Repeater Mode: A combination mode that offers both wired access point functionality and wireless range extension.

5.1 Initial Setup and Mode Configuration

To configure the device, connect to its default WiFi network (e.g., WAVLINK-AX_XXXX or WAVLINK-AX_5G_XXXX) and access the web-based management page via a browser (typically http://waplogin.link). The default login password is 'admin'. You will be prompted to set a new administrator password and configure your desired operating mode.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the PoE converter and a working power outlet. Check the LED indicator on the PoE converter.
  • No Internet Connection: Verify that the Ethernet cables are correctly connected between the device, PoE converter, and your main router/modem. Check your main router's internet connection. If in Repeater mode, ensure the device is successfully connected to your main router's WiFi.
  • Weak Signal/Limited Range: Adjust the position of the device and its antennas. Ensure there are no major obstructions (e.g., thick walls, metal objects) between the device and your client devices or the main router. Consider using Mesh mode for broader coverage.
  • Cannot Access Web Management Page: Ensure your device is connected to the WAVLINK's WiFi network. Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser. Verify the correct address (http://waplogin.link) is entered.
  • Forgot Password: You may need to perform a factory reset. Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for instructions on how to reset the device.
