Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and setup of your Helidirect FlyWing UH-1 Iroquois V4 Scale Helicopter RTF. Please read all instructions carefully before use to ensure proper functionality and to prevent damage.
Product Overview
The FlyWing Huey UH-1 V4 is a simulation helicopter featuring a double brushless motor design for efficient transmission. It incorporates an H1 flight controller with high-precision inertial navigation and omnidirectional GNSS positioning technology. This model supports various flight modes including 3D, GPS, Return-to-Home, and Semi-Auto. It also includes power monitoring and low power return functions.
Key Features:
- 20+ Minute Flight Time: Achieved with a 16V brushless motor configuration and an optimized ESC for enhanced flight efficiency.
- High Performance Servo: Features a coreless motor, 4KG.cm torque, and 0.12sec/60° high-speed response for quick helicopter reactions. Elliptical output shaft design eliminates the need for servo arm debugging.
- Brushless Tail Motor: High-speed brushless motor paired with a specially designed high-efficiency tail rotor provides sufficient power, fast response, and easy maintenance.
- Easy Maintenance: Designed with a plug-in cabin door for convenient battery access.
- Scale Metal Rotor Head: Adopts a metal rotor head design with 3D printed decorative parts for enhanced realism.
- M10 GPS Positioning Mode: Similar to traditional drones, it supports M10 GPS positioning assistance and barometric altitude assistance for stable hover at fixed locations and heights.
- Automatic Flight Mode: Allows the helicopter to fly along a horizontal path, forming 8-shaped or circular patterns. Rudder control is available for nose direction during automatic flight.
- One-Key/Low Battery Return: Features automatic return to the takeoff point and landing with a single button press or when the battery reaches a low voltage threshold.
- Enhanced Scale Details: The V4 model includes neatly arranged engraved lines, transparent cockpit covers, and highly restored paintwork.
- 10 Channel Transmitter: Offers approximately 1 kilometer remote control distance, clear function layout, and a dual joystick return center design for braking and hovering. Supports 9-channel and above remote controls with third-party SBUS protocol.
- Sensor Damping Design: Tailored EPDM shock-absorbing material and suspended IMU attitude sensor in the flight control system filter mechanical vibrations for improved aircraft stability.

3. Remote Control Preparation:
Install batteries into the remote control. Power on the remote control and ensure it is properly linked with the helicopter. The remote control features a dual joystick return center design. Familiarize yourself with the switch positions and functions.
Video illustrating how to switch between right-hand and left-hand throttle modes on the remote control.
4. Pre-Flight Checks:
Before each flight, ensure all rotor blades are securely attached and free from damage. Verify that the battery is fully charged and properly installed. Check the remote control's battery level. Perform a range check to confirm stable signal connection between the remote control and the helicopter.
Operating Instructions
1. Take-off and Landing:
In GPS mode, push the throttle stick to initiate take-off. Release the stick to stop and hover. For landing, gently reduce throttle until the helicopter descends smoothly. The one-button return function can also be used for automatic landing at the takeoff point.

2. Flight Modes:
- GPS Self-Stabilizing Mode: Provides stable hover and easy control, ideal for beginners.
- 3D Manual Mode: Offers full manual control for advanced maneuvers.
- One-Button Return: Automatically brings the helicopter back to its takeoff point.
- Low Battery Return: The helicopter automatically returns when the battery voltage is low.
- Out of Control Return: Initiates return if the remote control signal is lost.
- Semi-Automatic Assisted Flight: Provides assistance for specific flight patterns.
3. Automatic Flight Mode:
Engage the automatic flight mode to have the helicopter fly along predefined horizontal paths, such as figure-eights or circles. The rudder can still be used to control the nose direction during these automated flights.
4. General Flight Operation:
Practice in an open field away from obstacles. Start with GPS mode to familiarize yourself with the controls. Gradually explore other flight modes as your skills improve.

Maintenance
1. General Cleaning:
After each flight, gently wipe down the helicopter with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust, dirt, or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
2. Rotor Blade Inspection:
Regularly inspect the main and tail rotor blades for any cracks, chips, or deformities. Damaged blades can affect flight stability and safety. Replace any damaged blades immediately with genuine replacement parts.
3. Battery Care:
Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not overcharge or over-discharge the battery. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity.
4. Motor and Gear Inspection:
Periodically check the main and tail motors for any obstructions or signs of wear. Ensure gears are clean and properly lubricated. Listen for unusual noises during operation, which may indicate a need for maintenance.
Troubleshooting
1. Helicopter Not Responding:
- Ensure both the helicopter and remote control are powered on.
- Check remote control batteries and replace if necessary.
- Verify that the remote control is properly paired with the helicopter.
- Confirm that the helicopter's battery is fully charged and securely connected.
2. Unstable Flight:
- Inspect rotor blades for damage or imbalance.
- Ensure the helicopter is calibrated correctly (refer to the H1 flight control instructions for calibration procedures).
- Check for strong wind conditions; avoid flying in high winds.
3. Short Flight Time:
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before flight.
- Battery degradation can occur over time; consider replacing old batteries.
- Aggressive flying or continuous 3D mode usage will reduce flight time.
4. Automatic Return Issues:
- Ensure GPS signal is strong and stable before initiating automatic return.
- Confirm the takeoff point was properly recorded by the GPS system.
- Low battery voltage can affect the accuracy and success of automatic return.
