7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Enclosure not recognized by computer.
  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the enclosure is powered on.
  • Verify the USB data cable is properly connected to both the enclosure and the computer.
  • Try a different USB port on your computer.
  • Test with a different USB cable if available.
  • Ensure your operating system drivers are up to date.
Drives not appearing in "My Computer" or "Finder".
  • Check if the drives are properly seated in their bays.
  • For new drives, they may need to be initialized and formatted in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac OS).
  • Ensure the drives themselves are functional by testing them in another enclosure or directly connecting them to a computer if possible.
Slow data transfer speeds.
  • Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0/3.1 port on your computer. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port will limit speeds.
  • The performance of the drives themselves can affect speed. Older or slower HDDs will not achieve maximum USB 3.1 speeds.
  • If multiple disks are used simultaneously, transfer speed may be slightly reduced.
  • Avoid transferring many small files, which can be slower than large files.
Enclosure becomes hot during operation.
  • Ensure the enclosure is placed in a well-ventilated area.
  • Check that the ventilation holes are not blocked.
  • The integrated fan should be operating. If not, contact support.
  • Some heat generation is normal, especially during heavy data transfer.
