Operating Instructions

1. Disk Recognition and Formatting

Once connected and powered on, your operating system should automatically detect the hard drives within the enclosure. For new drives, you may need to initialize and format them through your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac OS) before use. Follow your operating system's instructions for disk initialization and formatting.

2. Data Transfer

The enclosure supports USB 3.1 Gen1 with transfer speeds up to 5Gbps (approximately 260MB/s real read/write speeds). You can drag and drop files to and from the drives as you would with any other external storage device. The indicator lights on the front panel will flash blue during data reading or writing.

3. Intelligent Disk Sleep Function

The enclosure features an intelligent disk sleep function to conserve power. The drives will hibernate alongside your computer's operating system. While this is designed for energy saving, some users have reported issues with the device not waking up automatically from sleep mode. If this occurs, you may need to manually power cycle the enclosure using the power button on the back to re-establish connection.

  • Blue (Flashing): Data reading or writing activity.
  • Red (Flashing): Indicates drive abnormalities or failures.

Maintenance

  • Cooling: The enclosure features a built-in 60mm silent fan to optimize chassis cooling. Ensure the fan vents are not obstructed to maintain proper airflow and enhance the safety and durability of the internal hard drives.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Environment: Place the enclosure on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.

Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the enclosure is powered on.
    • Verify the USB data cable is properly connected to both the enclosure and your computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
    • For new drives, ensure they are initialized and formatted in your operating system's Disk Management/Disk Utility.
    • Try power cycling the enclosure (turn off, unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in, turn on).
  • Drives Not Waking from Sleep Mode:
    • The intelligent disk sleep function may sometimes prevent automatic wake-up. Manually press the power button on the back of the enclosure to restart it.
    • Check your computer's power management settings to ensure USB devices are not set to power down.
  • Slow Transfer Speeds:
    • Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 port on your computer. Older USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
    • If using multiple disks simultaneously, transfer speeds may be slightly reduced.
    • Verify the health of your hard drives. Degraded drives can impact performance.
  • Red Flashing Indicator:
    • A red flashing light indicates a drive abnormality or failure. Check the drive connection, try reseating the drive, or test the drive in another enclosure or system if possible.
