4. Installation Guide

This section provides step-by-step instructions for installing your Craftersmark floating shelf bracket. Ensure you have all necessary tools and safety equipment.

4.1 Prepare Your Shelf Board

The shelf board (not included) requires routing and drilling to accommodate the bracket. The backplate of this bracket is 1.5 inches, suitable for wood boards with a thickness of 2 to 3.5 inches.

  1. Marking: Measure and mark the desired locations for the bracket rods on the back edge of your shelf board. Use the provided routing jig to guide your marks.
  2. Routing: Use the provided routing jig and router bit to create a groove along the back edge of the shelf board. The depth of this groove should be at least 2/5 inches (approximately 10mm) to fully conceal the bracket's backplate.
  3. Drilling: Using the drilling jig and auger bit, drill holes into the shelf board at the marked locations for the bracket rods. Ensure the holes are straight and deep enough to fully insert the rods.

4.2 Mount the Bracket to the Wall

The bracket features pre-drilled holes every inch, allowing flexibility to align with wall studs.

  1. Locate Wall Studs: Use a stud finder to accurately locate wall studs where you intend to mount the shelf. Mark the center of each stud.
  2. Position Bracket: Hold the bracket against the wall at the desired height. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. Mark the screw holes that align with the wall studs. The adjustable design allows you to hit studs even if they are not perfectly spaced.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. For drywall or plaster, use appropriate wall anchors. For wood studs, drill directly into the stud.
  4. Secure Bracket: Attach the bracket to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure it is firmly secured and level.
