Installation Guide
This section provides general guidance for replacing the components. Specific locations and procedures may vary; consult your mower's service manual for precise steps.
1. Air Filter Replacement (Primary MIU11747 & Secondary MIU11748)
- Locate the air filter housing on your mower.
- Open or unlatch the housing cover.
- Carefully remove the old primary and secondary air filters. Note their orientation.
- Clean the inside of the air filter housing to remove any debris.
- Install the new secondary air filter (MIU11748) first, ensuring it seats properly.
- Install the new primary air filter (MIU11747) over the secondary filter.
- Close and secure the air filter housing cover.
2. Engine Oil Filter Replacement (AM107423)
- Place a drain pan beneath the engine oil filter.
- Using an oil filter wrench, loosen and remove the old engine oil filter.
- Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
- Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new filter (AM107423).
- Screw on the new filter by hand until the gasket makes contact, then tighten an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Do not overtighten.
- Check for leaks after starting the engine.
3. In-Line Fuel Filter Replacement (AM116304)
- Locate the in-line fuel filter, typically between the fuel tank and the carburetor/fuel pump.
- Use clamps to pinch off the fuel lines on both sides of the filter to prevent fuel leakage.
- Remove the hose clamps securing the old filter and detach the fuel lines.
- Install the new fuel filter (AM116304), ensuring the arrow on the filter points in the direction of fuel flow (towards the engine).
- Secure the fuel lines with new or existing hose clamps.
- Remove the pinch clamps and check for leaks.
4. Transmission Oil Filter Replacement (MIA881446 - 2 filters)
- Locate the transmission oil filters, typically on the hydrostatic transaxles. There are two.
- Place a drain pan under each filter.
- Using a filter wrench, loosen and remove the old transmission oil filters.
- Clean the mounting surfaces.
- Apply a thin coat of new transmission fluid to the gaskets of the new filters (MIA881446).
- Screw on the new filters by hand until the gasket makes contact, then tighten an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Do not overtighten.
- Check fluid levels and add appropriate transmission fluid if necessary, according to your mower's manual.
- Check for leaks after operating the mower.
5. Spark Plug Replacement (M802138 - 2 plugs)
- Locate the spark plugs on the engine.
- Carefully disconnect the spark plug wires by pulling on the boot, not the wire.
- Use a spark plug socket wrench to loosen and remove the old spark plugs.
- Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or fouling.
- Gap the new spark plugs (M802138) to the specification found in your mower's manual (if required).
- Thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to prevent cross-threading.
- Tighten with a wrench to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification.
- Reconnect the spark plug wires, ensuring they click into place.
