1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

3.2 Charging the Device

Before initial use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided charging cable to the detector and a suitable power source. The device uses a 3.7V rechargeable lithium battery. A full charge typically takes less than 7 hours. The display will indicate the charging status.

3.3 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side or front panel) until the display illuminates and the device initiates its self-test sequence.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the power button again until the device powers down. Follow any on-screen prompts if present.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Gas Sampling Method

The BH-4S detector utilizes a natural diffusion gas sampling method. Ensure the sensor openings are clear and unobstructed when in use to allow for accurate gas detection.

4.2 Interpreting Readings

The 2.4-inch colored LCD display shows real-time gas concentrations in ppm or mg/m³. The display will show readings for combustible gas, O2, and the two toxic gases it is configured to detect (e.g., H2S, CO as per the back label image). Familiarize yourself with the normal operating ranges for each gas.

4.3 Alarm System

The device features a multi-level alarm system:

  • Light Alarm: Visual LED indicators will flash.
  • Sound Alarm: An audible alert will sound.
  • Vibratory Alarm: The device will vibrate, useful in noisy environments.
  • LCD Display Alarm: The screen will show a warning message or change color to indicate an alarm condition.

When an alarm is triggered, immediately follow your organization's safety protocols for gas detection. Do not ignore alarms.

4.4 Data Recording and Transfer

The BH-4S can store up to 500 records of alarm data. This data can be uploaded to a computer for further analysis using the host computer software. This feature allows operators to query, export, compare, and analyze historical gas detection data.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the detector with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure sensor openings are free from dust and debris.

5.2 Battery Care

To maximize battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Recharge the lithium battery as needed. The operating time is continuously for more than 8 hours on a full charge.

5.3 Sensor Life and Calibration

The sensors have an estimated life of 2 years. Regular calibration is essential to maintain accuracy and ensure reliable performance. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines or contact authorized service personnel for calibration procedures and sensor replacement.
