4.3 Initial Configuration

There are two primary methods for initial setup:

  1. Direct Connection Method:

Connect an Ethernet cable directly from your computer to the Access Point's LAN port. Configure your computer's Ethernet adapter to use a static IP address (e.g., 6.6.6.100) with Subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then, open a web browser and navigate to 6.6.6.6 to access the administration interface. The default login password is "admin".

  2. Router Connection Method:

Connect the Access Point to your router via an Ethernet cable. Log into your router's administration interface and find the Access Point in the connected devices list (it may appear as "WiFi6APD9F3" or similar). Note the IP address assigned to it. Enter this IP address into your web browser to access the Access Point's setup page. The default login password is "admin".

It is recommended to change the default wireless network SSID and create your own for security purposes.

5. Operating Modes

The AdaLov WA635X supports multiple operating modes to suit various network requirements:

5.1 AP Mode (Access Point)

In AP mode, the device acts as a central hub for wireless clients, extending your existing wired network wirelessly. It connects to your router via an Ethernet cable and broadcasts a Wi-Fi signal.

7. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your AdaLov WA635X Access Point, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. For outdoor installations, ensure vents and ports are clear of obstructions.
  • Inspect Cables and Connections: Regularly check all Ethernet and power cables for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Ensure waterproof plugs are securely in place for outdoor use.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security.
  • Environmental Considerations: While the device is weatherproof, avoid installing it in locations prone to extreme physical stress or prolonged submersion.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AdaLov WA635X, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power/LEDs Off:
    • Ensure the PoE adapter is properly connected to a power outlet and the Access Point.
    • If using a PoE switch, verify the switch port is active and providing power.
    • Check the power cable for damage.
  • No Internet Connection:
    • Verify the Ethernet cable connecting the Access Point to your router/modem is secure and functional.
    • Check your main router/modem for internet connectivity.
    • Ensure the Access Point is configured correctly for your network (e.g., IP address, gateway, DNS).
  • Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Slow Speeds:
    • Relocate the Access Point to a more central location or higher position to reduce obstructions.
    • Check for sources of interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones, neighboring Wi-Fi networks).
    • Ensure your client devices support Wi-Fi 6 for optimal performance.
    • Verify that Band Steering and Beamforming are enabled in the Access Point settings.
  • Cannot Access Web Management Interface:
    • Confirm your computer's IP settings are compatible with the Access Point's default IP (6.6.6.6) or the IP assigned by your router.
    • Try a different web browser.
    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
  • Factory Reset:

If issues persist, you may need to perform a factory reset. Locate the reset button (often a small pinhole) on the device. With the device powered on, press and hold the reset button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the LEDs flash, then release. This will restore the device to its default factory settings.
