4. Setup Guide
Before using your JAKCOM R5 Smart Ring, follow these steps for initial setup:
4.1 Determine Your Ring Size
The R5 Smart Ring is available in different sizes (S, M, L). Ensure you have selected the correct size for comfortable wear and optimal functionality. Refer to the size specification chart below.

Figure 4.1: Ring Size Specification
4.2 App Installation and Pairing
To unlock the full potential of your R5 Smart Ring, download the official JAKCOM application from your smartphone's app store (available for iPhone and Android). Follow the in-app instructions to pair your ring and configure its various functions.
4.3 Programming RFID/NFC Cards
For simulating existing RFID or NFC cards, you will need a compatible card copier/reader (e.g., JAKCOM CDS RFID Replicator, sold separately). Use the copier to read your physical cards and write the data to the corresponding chip modules within your R5 ring. Ensure the ring is placed correctly on the copier for successful data transfer.
5. Operating Instructions
Utilize the JAKCOM R5 Smart Ring's features as follows:
5.1 Using Simulated Cards
Once programmed, simply touch the appropriate part of your R5 ring to a compatible reader (e.g., access control panel, turnstile, time clock) to gain access or complete transactions. The ring has distinct areas for different chip types (IC, ID, NFC) for precise interaction.
5.2 Social Information Sharing
To share your social contact information, activate the social sharing function via the JAKCOM app. Then, gently tap your ring against another NFC-enabled smartphone. Your pre-configured social profiles will be shared instantly.
5.3 Wireless File Transfer
Access the 128GB wireless disk feature through the JAKCOM app. You can then transfer files to and from your ring by touching it to a compatible smartphone or computer. This allows for convenient and secure data exchange.
5.4 Smart Home and Apple Shortcuts Control
Configure smart home scenes (e.g., Mi Home) or Apple Shortcuts within the JAKCOM app. Once set up, a simple tap of your ring can trigger complex actions, such as turning on lights, adjusting air conditioning, or playing music.
5.5 Virtual Call and Location Message
These features are activated via the JAKCOM app. For Virtual Call, you can trigger a simulated incoming call to provide an excuse for departure. For Location Message, the ring can trigger your phone to send GPS location messages to pre-selected contacts, useful in critical situations.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and performance of your JAKCOM R5 Smart Ring:
- Cleaning: Wipe the ring with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Water Resistance: The ring has an IP56 dustproof and waterproof rating. This means it is protected against dust ingress and strong jets of water. While it can withstand splashes and brief immersion, it is not recommended for prolonged submersion or high-pressure water exposure (e.g., showering, swimming).
- Storage: Store the ring in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
- Durability: The ceramic material is highly scratch-resistant, but avoid dropping the ring on hard surfaces or subjecting it to excessive force, as this may cause damage.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your R5 Smart Ring, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Ring not recognized by reader/phone | Incorrect placement; weak signal; incompatible reader; chip password-locked. | Ensure the correct part of the ring is directly touching the reader. Try different angles. Verify reader compatibility. For password-locked chips (e.g., T5577), refer to the official JAKCOM website for specific instructions on unlocking them. |
| App functions not working | App not updated; incorrect permissions; phone NFC issues; ring not paired. | Update the JAKCOM app to the latest version. Check app permissions in your phone settings. Ensure NFC is enabled on your phone. Re-pair the ring with the app if necessary. |
| Wireless disk transfer issues | Incorrect file format; insufficient space; connection interference. | Ensure files are compatible. Check available storage on the ring and your phone. Minimize interference during transfer. |
| Ring feels uncomfortable or too bulky | Incorrect ring size. | Ensure you have selected the appropriate ring size based on the measurement guide. The ring's design is optimized for functionality, but personal comfort may vary. |
