For safety and energy saving, the appliance may automatically switch off if left unused for a certain period. To restart, press the power button.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

6.1 Emptying the Water Tank

After each use, or when storing the iron, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water. This helps prevent limescale buildup.

6.2 Cleaning the Soleplate (Durilium AirGlide Autoclean)

The Durilium AirGlide Autoclean soleplate is designed for easy maintenance. For light cleaning, wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth after it has cooled down. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metallic scouring pads.

6.3 Descaling the Calc Collector

The 'Anti calc' indicator light on the control panel will illuminate when the Calc Collector needs cleaning. This feature helps maintain steam performance and prolong the life of your appliance.

  1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged and completely cool (at least 2 hours after use).
  2. Locate the Calc Collector cap, usually on the side or front of the steam generator base.
  3. Unscrew the cap and carefully remove the Calc Collector rod.
  4. Rinse the rod thoroughly under running water to remove any limescale deposits.
  5. Reinsert the clean Calc Collector rod and screw the cap back on tightly.

6.4 Storage

Once the iron has cooled down and the water tank is empty, store the appliance in a dry, safe place. Secure the steam hose and power cord to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No steam: Check if the water tank is filled, if the appliance is powered on, and if the steam ready indicator is solid. Ensure the steam mode is selected.
  • Water leaking from soleplate: This can occur if the iron is not hot enough for steam generation. Wait for the iron to reach the correct temperature. Ensure the water tank is not overfilled.
  • Iron not heating: Verify that the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet and that the power button has been pressed.
  • 'Anti calc' indicator illuminated: The Calc Collector needs to be cleaned as described in section 6.3.

If problems persist, consult the official Tefal website or contact customer support.
