3.2 Powering the Device
The EBA63 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and standard AC power. Choose the method that best suits your installation environment:
- PoE (Recommended): Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or injector to the PoE-IN port on the EBA63. This provides both power and data connectivity. Ensure your PoE source supports 802.3af/at standards.
- AC Adapter: Connect the provided AC power adapter to the DC IN port on the EBA63, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Initial Configuration via ASUS ExpertWiFi App
The ASUS ExpertWiFi EBA63 is primarily configured using the ASUS ExpertWiFi mobile app. Download the app from your device's app store and follow the on-screen instructions for a guided setup.
- Network Creation: The app will guide you through creating your WiFi network name (SSID) and password.
- AiMesh Setup: If you are integrating the EBA63 into an existing ASUS AiMesh system, the app will facilitate adding it as an AiMesh node.

4.2 Self-Defined Networks and VLAN Support
The EBA63 allows for the creation of up to five SSIDs (Service Set Identifiers) and supports VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) for network segmentation. This enables you to create separate networks for different user groups (e.g., employees, guests, IoT devices) and prioritize traffic as needed.
- Guest Network: Provide temporary or scheduled access for visitors without compromising your main network security.
- Employee Network: Set up access levels and bandwidth prioritization for staff.
- IoT Network: Isolate smart devices for enhanced security.

4.3 AiMesh Compatibility
The EBA63 is compatible with ASUS AiMesh products, allowing you to expand your network coverage seamlessly. When integrated into an AiMesh system, devices automatically switch to the strongest WiFi signal as you move around, ensuring stable connections.

5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and security of your ASUS ExpertWiFi EBA63, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install the latest firmware updates via the ASUS ExpertWiFi app or the web interface. Firmware updates often include performance improvements, security patches, and new features.
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Ensure ventilation holes are not obstructed to prevent overheating.
- Placement: Periodically review the placement of your access point to ensure it still provides optimal coverage, especially if your environment changes (e.g., new furniture, office layout changes).
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EBA63 access point, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Internet Connection:
- Check the Ethernet cable connection to the PoE-IN port.
- Verify that your modem and main router are working correctly.
- If using PoE, ensure the PoE switch/injector is powered on and functioning.
- Weak WiFi Signal or Dead Zones:
- Relocate the EBA63 to a more central position or closer to areas with weak signals.
- Ensure there are no major obstructions (e.g., thick walls, large metal objects) blocking the signal path.
- If part of an AiMesh system, check the connection quality between nodes in the ExpertWiFi app.
- Device Not Connecting to WiFi:
- Verify the WiFi network name (SSID) and password are correct.
- Restart the client device (laptop, smartphone).
- Restart the EBA63 access point.
- Configuration Issues (e.g., Wireless Backhaul vs. Ethernet Backhaul):
- If the device defaults to wireless backhaul despite an Ethernet connection, access the ExpertWiFi app or web interface to manually set the backhaul priority to Ethernet.
- Perform a factory reset if configuration becomes problematic. Use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button for 5-10 seconds until the LED light flashes.
