Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your Redodo LiFePO4 battery.

Charging

The battery can be charged using a 14.6V 56A LiFePO4 battery charger, solar panels (≥1200W) with a compatible controller, or a 56A DC to DC charger with a generator. Always use chargers specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries.

Storage

For long-term storage, ensure the battery is charged to approximately 50% State of Charge (SOC) and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The low self-discharge rate of 3% per month helps maintain charge during storage.

Temperature Considerations

The built-in low-temperature cutoff protection prevents charging below 0°C (32°F) and allows discharge down to -20°C (-4°F). Charging automatically resumes when the temperature rises above 5°C (41°F).

Troubleshooting

The integrated BMS provides comprehensive protection. If the battery is not functioning as expected, check the following:

  • No Power Output: Check if the BMS has triggered a protection mode (e.g., over-discharge, over-current, short circuit). Disconnect the load and allow the battery to rest or attempt to charge it with a compatible LiFePO4 charger to reset the BMS.
  • Not Charging: Verify that the charger is specifically for LiFePO4 batteries and that the temperature is above 0°C (32°F). Ensure all connections are secure and correct polarity is maintained.
  • Low Voltage: If the battery voltage is unusually low, the over-discharge protection may have activated. Attempt to charge the battery immediately.
  • Overheating: The BMS includes overheating protection. If the battery feels excessively hot, disconnect it from the load/charger and allow it to cool down in a well-ventilated area.
