5.2 Connecting Your Keypad

The SK16 supports three connection modes:

  • Wired Mode: Connect the keypad directly to your computer using the USB Type-C cable. This mode is required for programming with VIA software.
  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: Insert the 2.4G USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Turn on the keypad and switch to 2.4G mode. The keypad should automatically connect.
  • Bluetooth Mode: Turn on the keypad and switch to Bluetooth mode. On your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone), search for Bluetooth devices and select "Darmoshark SK16" to pair.

6. Operating the Keypad

6.1 Basic Keypad Use

Once connected, the SK16 keypad functions as a standard numeric keypad or a set of programmable macro keys, depending on its current configuration. The rotary knob typically controls volume or other assigned functions.

6.2 Programming with VIA Software

The Darmoshark SK16 is fully programmable using the VIA software. This allows you to remap keys, create macros, and manage multiple layers of key assignments. Note: VIA software only supports wired mode use for programming.

  1. Connect the SK16 keypad to your computer via the USB Type-C cable.
  2. Download and install the VIA software from the official VIA website or the manufacturer's support page.
  3. Open the VIA application. The software should automatically detect the SK16 keypad. If not, you may need to load the specific JSON definition file for the SK16, which can typically be found on the Darmoshark support website.
  4. Within VIA, you can customize key assignments, create macros, and configure lighting effects across different layers. Changes are applied in real-time.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Darmoshark SK16 keypad, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the keypad. For deeper cleaning, remove keycaps and use compressed air to clear debris from between switches.
  • Keycap and Switch Replacement: Utilize the provided shaft puller to carefully remove keycaps and switches. When inserting new switches, ensure the pins align correctly with the hot-swap sockets to prevent damage.
  • Storage: Store the keypad in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SK16 keypad, refer to the following common solutions:

Keypad not responding:
Ensure the keypad is charged. Check the connection mode (wired, 2.4G, Bluetooth) and ensure it matches your device's connection. For 2.4G, verify the receiver is properly inserted. For Bluetooth, ensure it's paired and within range.
Cannot program with VIA:
Ensure the keypad is connected via wired USB-C mode. VIA software does not support wireless programming. Verify that the correct JSON definition file for the SK16 is loaded in VIA.
RGB lighting not working:
Check lighting settings in VIA software. Ensure the keypad is powered on and not in a low-power state.
Keys not registering:
If specific keys are not working, try reseating the keycap and switch. If the issue persists, the switch may need to be replaced.
