1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your TIDRADIO Speaker Microphone (Model TID-MIC). This accessory is designed to enhance communication convenience for users of compatible Ham, GMRS, and FRS radios.

The speaker microphone features a handheld design, allowing for easy communication without needing to remove your radio from its belt clip or pocket. It incorporates a high-performance micro speaker and a noise-cancellation microphone to ensure clear audio transmission and reception, even in noisy environments. A rotatable clip on the back provides flexible attachment options.

2. Setup

To connect your TIDRADIO Speaker Microphone to your compatible radio, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the 2-pin accessory port on the side of your radio. This port typically consists of two jacks: a 3.5mm stereo jack (top pin) for the earphone and a 2.5mm stereo jack (bottom pin) for the microphone.
  2. Align the twin right-angle 2-pin connector of the speaker microphone with the corresponding ports on your radio.
  3. Gently but firmly insert the connector into the radio's port until it is fully seated. Ensure a secure connection to prevent audio interruptions.

3. Operating Instructions

Once connected, the TIDRADIO Speaker Microphone allows for convenient hands-free communication:

  • Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button: To transmit, press and hold the large PTT button located on the side of the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone grille. Release the button to listen.
  • Speaker Function: Audio from your radio will be routed through the speaker on the microphone. The volume is typically controlled directly from your radio's volume knob.
  • Rotatable Clip: The sturdy, rotatable clip on the back of the microphone allows you to securely attach it to your collar, shoulder, or other convenient locations for easy access and optimal sound pickup.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the microphone. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the microphone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Water Resistance: This speaker microphone is NOT water resistant. Avoid exposure to water, rain, or excessive moisture to prevent damage.
  • Cable Care: Avoid excessive pulling or bending of the coiled cable to prevent internal wire damage.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Audio from Speaker Microphone:
    • Ensure the 2-pin connector is fully and securely inserted into the radio's port.
    • Check the radio's volume level.
    • Verify the radio is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Microphone Not Transmitting:
    • Confirm the PTT button is being pressed firmly during transmission.
    • Check the radio's settings to ensure the external microphone is enabled, if applicable.
    • Ensure the 2-pin connector is fully and securely inserted.
  • Distorted Audio:
    • Check the connection for any loose pins or debris.
    • Adjust the radio's volume to an appropriate level.
    • Ensure you are speaking clearly into the microphone and not too close or too far away.
