Setup

Before operating the mini chainsaw, ensure it is properly assembled and prepared.

1. Battery Installation:

  1. Ensure the chainsaw is switched off and the safety switch is engaged.
  2. Align the 20V PARKSIDE X 20V Team series battery (sold separately) with the battery compartment on the tool.
  3. Slide the battery into the compartment until it clicks securely into place.
  4. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

2. Chain Installation and Tensioning:

The chainsaw features a tool-free quick chain change function.

  1. Ensure the battery is removed.
  2. Refer to the quick chain change mechanism (typically a red knob or lever) on the side of the chainsaw.
  3. Follow the specific instructions on the device for releasing the guide bar cover and chain.
  4. Carefully place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction.
  5. Re-attach the guide bar cover and use the quick tensioning mechanism to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand.
  6. Ensure the chain is properly seated in the guide bar groove.

3. Chain Lubrication:

This model requires manual chain lubrication. Apply chain oil regularly to the guide bar and chain before and during operation to ensure smooth running and prevent premature wear. Use appropriate chainsaw chain oil.

Operating Instructions

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection before operating the chainsaw.

1. Starting the Chainsaw:

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely installed.
  2. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the main handle and one on the auxiliary handle (if applicable).
  3. Engage the safety switch (if present) and then press the trigger switch to start the chain.

2. Cutting Techniques:

  • Pruning Branches: Support the branch to be cut. Make a small undercut first to prevent splintering, then complete the cut from the top.
  • Cutting Logs/Timber: Secure the material to prevent movement. Apply steady, even pressure. Avoid cutting into the ground.
  • Avoid Kickback: Never cut with the tip of the guide bar. Be aware of objects that could pinch the chain.

3. Stopping the Chainsaw:

Release the trigger switch. The chain should stop quickly. Always engage the safety switch and remove the battery when not in use or when moving between cutting locations.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your mini chainsaw.

1. Cleaning:

  • Always remove the battery before cleaning.
  • Clean the guide bar groove and chain regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
  • Wipe down the tool's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.

2. Chain Care:

  • Sharpening: A dull chain will not cut efficiently and can cause kickback. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.
  • Lubrication: As mentioned in Setup, manually apply chain oil frequently during operation.
  • Tension: Check chain tension before each use. A loose chain can derail, and a too-tight chain can cause excessive wear.

3. Storage:

  • Ensure the chainsaw is clean and dry before storage.
  • Always attach the blade cover (included) to protect the chain and guide bar.
  • Store the tool in its practical storage case in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
  • Remove the battery from the tool if storing for extended periods.
