Setup

1. Package Contents

Verify that your package contains the following items:

  • Poly Edge E100 IP Phone base unit
  • Handset
  • Handset cord
  • Ethernet cable
  • Desk stand (pre-attached or separate)
  • Power adapter (may be sold separately depending on model/region)

2. Physical Installation

Desktop Placement

To set up the phone on a desk:

  1. Attach the desk stand to the phone base if it is not already attached. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  2. Place the phone on a stable, flat surface.

Wall Mounting

The Poly Edge E100 can be mounted on a wall. A wall mount bracket (often sold separately) may be required. Follow the instructions provided with the wall mount kit.

  1. Secure the wall mount bracket to the wall using appropriate fasteners.
  2. Attach the phone to the wall mount bracket.
  3. Ensure the handset retainer tab is reversed to hold the handset securely when wall-mounted.

3. Connecting Cables

Connect the necessary cables to the ports on the back of the phone. Refer to Figure 4 for port locations.

  1. Handset: Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the handset port on the phone base.
  2. Network: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone and the other end to your network switch or router. If using Power over Ethernet (PoE), the phone will power on automatically.
  3. Power Adapter (if not using PoE): If PoE is not available, connect the power adapter (if included) to the power port on the phone and then to a power outlet.
  4. Headset (Optional): If using a headset, connect it to the dedicated headset port.

Once connected, the phone will power on and begin its boot sequence. Initial configuration may be required by your IT administrator.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Call Functions

  • Making a Call:
    1. Pick up the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press a Line key.
    2. Dial the number using the keypad.
    3. Press the Dial soft key or wait for the call to connect automatically.
  • Answering a Call:
    1. Pick up the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press the flashing Line key.
  • Ending a Call:
    1. Hang up the handset, press the Speakerphone button again, or press the End Call soft key.
  • Adjusting Volume: Use the Volume +/- buttons to adjust the handset, headset, or speakerphone volume during a call, or the ringer volume when idle.
  • Mute: Press the Mute button to mute your microphone during a call. Press again to unmute.
  • Speakerphone: Press the Speakerphone button to activate or deactivate the speakerphone.

2. Advanced Features

  • Contacts: Access your contact directory via the Contacts soft key on the display.
  • Recent Calls: View your call history (missed, received, dialed) by pressing the Recent soft key.
  • Menu: Access phone settings and advanced features through the Menu soft key.
  • Noise Reduction: The Poly Edge E100 features integrated noise reduction technology to minimize background distractions during calls. This feature operates automatically.
