1. Safety Instructions
Read all safety warnings and instructions before operating this electric drain cleaner. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power outlet is properly grounded. Do not operate the machine in wet conditions or expose it to rain. Always disconnect power before performing any adjustments or maintenance.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including heavy-duty gloves, eye protection, and non-slip footwear, when operating the drain cleaner.
- Work Area: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Keep bystanders and children away.
- Cable Handling: Never force the cable. Be aware of the rotating cable and avoid contact with moving parts. Do not allow the cable to kink or twist.
- Overheat Protection: The machine is equipped with a 130°C overheat protection system that automatically stops the motor to prevent damage and ensure user safety. If activated, allow the machine to cool down before resuming operation.
- Intended Use: This machine is designed for clearing blockages in pipes with diameters ranging from 32mm to 100mm. Do not use it for purposes other than its intended use.

3. Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your electric drain cleaner for operation:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Position the Machine: Place the drain cleaner on a stable, level surface near the drain to be cleared. Ensure adequate space for operation and cable extension.
- Attach Feet/Stand: If the feet or stand are not pre-attached, secure them to the base of the machine using the provided hardware. This ensures stability during operation.

- Select and Attach Cutter Head: Choose the appropriate cutter head for the type of blockage. For example, a bulb auger for initial penetration or a 4-blade cutter for hard debris. Securely attach it to the end of the drain cleaning cable.
- Power Connection: Ensure the power switch is in the 'OFF' position. Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
4. Operating Instructions
Operating the CO-Z Electric Drain Cleaner requires careful attention to safety and proper technique.
- Insert Cable: Manually feed the cable with the attached cutter head into the drain opening. Push it as far as it will go until resistance is met, indicating the blockage.
- Engage Motor: Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position. Use the control lever or knob to select the desired direction (forward or reverse). For clearing blockages, typically start with the forward direction.

Figure 4.1: The control knob for engaging and reversing the cable rotation.
- Advance the Cable: While the motor is running, gently push the cable into the drain. The rotating cutter head will work to break up the blockage. Do not force the cable; allow the rotation to do the work.
- Clear Blockage: Once the cutter head reaches the blockage, apply gentle pressure. Move the cable back and forth slightly to help the cutter head penetrate and clear the obstruction.
- Retract the Cable: After the blockage is cleared, switch the motor to reverse (if applicable) or turn off the motor and manually retract the cable. Clean the cable as it is pulled out.
- Test Drain: Run water down the drain to ensure the blockage is completely cleared. Repeat the process if necessary.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your drain cleaner.
- Cleaning the Cable and Cutter Heads: After each use, thoroughly clean the drain cleaning cable and all cutter heads. Remove any debris, grease, or hair. Rinse with water and dry completely to prevent rust.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of rust-inhibiting oil to the cable and cutter heads, especially if storing for extended periods.
- Machine Casing: Wipe down the machine casing with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure no water enters the motor housing.
- Storage: Store the electric drain cleaner in a dry, secure location, away from moisture and extreme temperatures. Keep it out of reach of children.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the power cord for any damage. Check the cable and cutter heads for wear, cracks, or deformities. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
6. Troubleshooting
Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine does not start | No power supply; Overheat protection activated; Faulty switch | Check power connection and outlet; Allow machine to cool down; Contact support if switch is faulty. |
| Cable not advancing/retracting | Cable kinked or stuck; Incorrect direction selected; Motor not engaged | Reverse direction briefly to free cable; Ensure correct direction is selected; Check control lever/knob. |
| Ineffective cleaning | Wrong cutter head used; Blockage too severe; Insufficient cable length | Select appropriate cutter head; Repeat operation or consider professional help for severe blockages; Ensure cable reaches blockage. |
| Overheat protection activates frequently | Continuous heavy load; Insufficient cooling; Motor strain | Allow machine to cool between uses; Avoid prolonged heavy use; Ensure proper ventilation around the motor. |
