Setup
Initial Charging
Your Lorus solar watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, expose it to light for several hours to ensure it is fully charged. Direct sunlight is the most efficient charging source, but artificial light can also be used.
- Place the watch face up in direct sunlight for approximately 5-6 hours for a full charge.
- Under bright artificial light (e.g., fluorescent lamp 30W at 20cm), charging may take up to 50 hours.
- Avoid placing the watch in extremely high temperatures during charging.
Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Push the crown back into the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.
Note: For models with a date display, avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM to prevent damage to the date mechanism.
Operating
Basic Timekeeping
Once set, your Lorus solar watch will accurately keep time as long as it receives sufficient light exposure to maintain its charge. The solar cell continuously converts light into electrical energy, which is stored in a rechargeable battery.
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use, swimming, and snorkeling. It is not suitable for scuba diving or high-impact water sports.
- Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
- Do not operate the crown or pushers (if any) while the watch is wet or submerged.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Watch
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet periodically with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. For the stainless steel bracelet, a soft brush and mild soapy water can be used, ensuring to rinse thoroughly and dry.
Battery Care (Rechargeable Cell)
The solar watch uses a special rechargeable battery that does not require regular replacement like conventional batteries. However, prolonged periods without light exposure can deplete the charge. To ensure longevity and optimal performance:
- Avoid storing the watch in dark places for extended periods.
- Regularly expose the watch to light, even when not in use.
- If the watch stops, recharge it promptly as described in the "Initial Charging" section.
Temperature and Magnetic Fields
Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (below 0°C or above 60°C) and strong magnetic fields, as these can affect its accuracy and functionality.
Troubleshooting
Watch Has Stopped
- Cause: Insufficient charge.
- Solution: Expose the watch to direct sunlight or bright artificial light for several hours to recharge.
Time is Incorrect
- Cause: Time was not set correctly or watch has stopped and restarted.
- Solution: Refer to the "Setting the Time" section to reset the time. Ensure the watch is adequately charged.
Condensation Inside the Crystal

- Solution: If condensation disappears quickly, it may not be an issue. If it persists or forms large droplets, contact a qualified watch repair service immediately as water may have entered the watch.
