Setup

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all bundled items are present:

Power Connection

  1. Connect the supplied Yamaha PA-130 AC Adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear of the keyboard.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  3. Alternatively, the keyboard can be powered by six "AA" size alkaline (LR6) or rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries.

Connecting Peripherals

The PSR-E383 offers various connectivity options:

  • Headphone Jack (3.5mm): For private practice.
  • Foot Pedal Jack (6.35mm): For connecting an optional sustain pedal (FC4A or FC5 recommended).
  • USB TO HOST Terminal: Connect to a PC or smart device for MIDI communication.
  • AUX IN Jack: Connect an audio player to play along with your favorite songs.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

Press the POWER button to turn on the keyboard. Adjust the MASTER VOLUME knob to a comfortable listening level.

Exploring Voices (Instrument Sounds)

The PSR-E383 boasts 650 high-quality instrument voices. Use the VOICE category buttons and the dial/number pad to select different sounds like pianos, guitars, strings, and more. The velocity-sensitive keys allow for expressive playing, where the volume and timbre change based on how hard you strike the keys.

Using Styles (Automatic Accompaniment)

With 260 automatic accompaniment styles, you can enjoy a full band experience. Select a STYLE category and then a specific style. Use the Auto Chord Play and Smart Chord functions to generate appropriate chords and backing tracks as you play.

Interactive Learning Features

Maintenance
