Setup
Before starting any experiment, ensure you have a clean, flat workspace. It is recommended to cover your work surface to protect it from spills. Always have an adult present to supervise and assist, especially with younger children.
- Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with the instruction manual. Each experiment has specific steps and safety precautions.
- Gather Materials: Identify and gather all required materials for the chosen experiment as listed in the manual.
- Wear Safety Gear: Put on the safety goggles before handling any chemicals or starting an experiment.
- Prepare Workspace: Ensure adequate lighting and ventilation. Keep paper towels or cloths handy for spills.
Operating Instructions: Key Experiments
The kit offers a vast array of experiments. Below are detailed instructions for a few popular ones to get you started. Refer to the included manual for all 260+ experiments.
1. Volcano Eruption
Experience a classic chemical reaction with a simulated volcanic eruption.
- Place the volcano model on a tray to contain any overflow.
- Add 1-2 scoops of baking soda into the volcano's crater.
- In a separate measuring cup, mix a small amount of water with a few drops of red food coloring (or other color of choice) and a teaspoon of citric acid.
- Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the volcano's crater. Observe the eruption!

2. Make Bouncy Balls
Create your own colorful bouncy balls using polymer science.
- Select your desired colors of bouncy ball powder.
- Carefully layer the powders into the bouncy ball mold.
- Submerge the filled mold in water for the recommended time (refer to manual for exact duration).
- Remove the mold from water and let the ball dry for at least 30 minutes.
- Once dry, carefully open the mold to reveal your bouncy ball.

3. Gemstone Excavation
Unearth hidden treasures like a real paleontologist.
- Place the excavation block on a protected surface or tray.
- Use the provided digging tools (hammer and chisel) to carefully chip away at the block.
- Once a gemstone or dinosaur fossil is exposed, use the brush to gently clear away debris.
- Clean the excavated items with water to reveal their true beauty.

Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity of your science kit and its components.
- Cleaning: After each experiment, clean all reusable tools (beakers, test tubes, spoons, etc.) with warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before storing.
- Storage: Store all components in their original packaging or a designated storage container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Chemicals: Keep all chemical powders and liquids sealed in their original containers when not in use.
- Disposal: Dispose of used or leftover chemicals and materials responsibly, following the guidelines in the experiment manual and local regulations.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues during your experiments, refer to these common troubleshooting tips:
- Experiment Not Working: Double-check the instructions to ensure all steps were followed correctly and the correct quantities of materials were used. Ensure materials are not expired or contaminated.
- Missing Components: If any components are missing from your kit, please contact UNGLINGA customer support.
