Safety Instructions
- Ensure the awning is securely mounted to a suitable wall type (concrete, solid brick, or wooden wall) using appropriate hardware.
- Do not operate the awning in strong winds (above 30mph) or heavy rain. Retract the awning fully during adverse weather conditions to prevent damage.
- Keep children and pets away from the awning during operation.
- Regularly inspect all mounting hardware and moving parts for wear or damage. Do not use if any components are compromised.
- Avoid hanging objects from the awning frame or fabric.
- Do not attempt to modify the awning's structure or components. Use only original replacement parts if needed.
Setup and Installation
The AECOJOY retractable awning requires assembly and proper installation. It can be mounted on concrete, solid brick, or wooden walls. Hardware and a detailed manual are included.
Wall Mounting Considerations
Before installation, identify the appropriate wall type and use the corresponding fasteners:
- Expansion bolts: For reinforced concrete and solid brick walls.
- Spare wood screws (M10): For wooden walls. For wooden walls, it is recommended to drill 0.25 inch pilot holes.

Recommended Installation Height
Consider the awning's drop area when selecting the installation location. If mounting above a patio door, ensure at least 8 inches of clearance above the door frame to prevent interference with door operation.
- Recommended Installation Height: 8 FT - 13 FT from the ground to the installation location.
- The hand crank is approximately 59 inches long.

Adjusting the Awning Angle
The awning's pitch or angle can be adjusted to optimize shade coverage. While each awning comes with a pre-set ideal pitch, adjustments can be made by loosening and tightening specific components.
- The adjustable angle range is typically between 40 and 90 degrees.
- Refer to the detailed assembly manual for specific instructions on adjusting the angle.

Maintenance
- Cleaning the Fabric: Clean the awning fabric with mild soap and water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Allow the fabric to dry completely before retracting to prevent mildew.
- Frame Maintenance: Periodically wipe down the aluminum frame with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Check for any signs of rust or corrosion, especially on moving parts.
- Hardware Inspection: Regularly inspect all bolts, screws, and mounting brackets to ensure they are tight and secure. Tighten any loose fasteners.
- Winter Storage: In areas with harsh winters, it is recommended to fully retract the awning and, if possible, cover it to protect it from heavy snow and ice accumulation.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Awning does not extend or retract smoothly. | Mechanism obstruction, bent arm, or loose crank connection. | Check for debris in the mechanism. Inspect arms for damage. Ensure hand crank is properly engaged. |
| Awning sags or appears uneven. | Incorrect angle adjustment or loose mounting. | Adjust the awning angle as per instructions. Verify all mounting bolts are secure. |
| Fabric shows signs of wear or tearing. | Exposure to extreme weather, sharp objects, or prolonged tension. | Ensure awning is retracted during high winds/heavy rain. Avoid contact with sharp objects. Consider fabric replacement if damage is significant. |
| Mounting brackets feel loose. | Improper installation or loosening over time. | Re-tighten all mounting bolts. If problem persists, consult a professional for re-installation. |
