The Parkside® PRTA 20-Li C3 is a versatile 20 V battery-powered grass trimmer designed for efficient lawn edge cutting and general trimming tasks. It features a double thread system for effective cutting and a telescopic guide rail for user comfort.

3. Assembly and Setup

Before first use, ensure all components are present and undamaged. The trimmer is designed for easy, tool-free assembly.

3.1 Attaching the Protective Cover

1. Align the protective cover with the trimmer head.
2. Securely attach the cover until it clicks into place. Ensure the thread blade is correctly positioned.

3.2 Adjusting the Handles

1. Adjust the telescopic guide rail to your body size for comfortable operation. Loosen the locking mechanism, extend or retract the shaft, and then secure it.
2. Position the adjustable second handle for optimal balance and control. Tighten its locking mechanism once set.

3.3 Installing the Battery

This device is supplied without a battery and charger. Use only batteries from the Parkside X 20 V Team series.

1. Ensure the trimmer is switched off and the safety switch is engaged.
2. Slide a charged Parkside X 20 V battery into the battery compartment until it locks securely.
3. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your grass trimmer.

4.1 Starting and Stopping the Trimmer

1. Ensure the battery is correctly installed.
2. Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
3. Press the safety switch and then the power trigger to start the motor.
4. Release the power trigger to stop the motor.

4.2 Trimming Techniques

• General Trimming: Hold the trimmer at a slight angle and swing it from side to side, cutting small amounts of grass at a time.
• Edge Trimming: Utilize the plug-in spacer roller for clean cutting of lawn edges. The rotating trimmer head can be set to 0° or 180° for this purpose.
• Adjusting Cutting Angle: The trimmer head offers 5 adjustable cutting angles to reach difficult areas or for specific trimming needs.
• Plant Protection: Use the fold-out plant protection bar to prevent damage to delicate plants and trees.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your trimmer. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

5.1 Cleaning

• After each use, clean the trimmer head, protective cover, and housing with a damp cloth.
• Remove any grass clippings or debris from the ventilation slots to prevent overheating.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

5.2 Spool Replacement

The trimmer features an easy, tool-free spool change system. The product includes 2 thread spools (1 x pre-assembled, 1 x replacement).

1. Ensure the battery is removed.
2. Press the release tabs on the spool cover and remove it.
3. Lift out the empty spool.
4. Insert a new thread spool, ensuring the line is fed through the eyelet.
5. Replace the spool cover, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

5.3 Storage

• Store the trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Ensure the battery is removed before long-term storage.
• Keep out of reach of children.
