3.1 Radio Unit Features

3.2 Handheld Microphone

4. Setup
4.1 Mounting the Radio

4.2 Power Connection
Connect the provided power cable to the radio unit and to a 12V DC power source in your vehicle. Ensure the connection is secure and properly fused to prevent electrical damage.
- Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's battery or a fused 12V power source.
- Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal of your vehicle's battery or chassis ground.
- Ensure the inline fuse is correctly installed.
4.3 Antenna Connection
Connect a suitable GMRS antenna (not included) to the SO-239 antenna connector on the rear of the radio unit. For optimal performance, ensure your antenna is properly tuned for the GMRS frequency band.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume
To power on the radio, press and hold the volume knob. Rotate the knob to adjust the audio volume.
5.2 Channel Selection
The DB40-G supports 169 customizable channels, including GMRS repeater channels and UHF RX. Use the channel knob on the radio or the up/down buttons on the microphone to select channels. Direct frequency input is also possible via the microphone keypad.

5.3 Dual Watch and Dual Display
The dual watch and dual display feature allows you to monitor two channels simultaneously. This is particularly useful for monitoring a primary communication channel while also keeping an ear on an emergency or secondary channel.
5.4 VOX Hands-Free Function
Activate the VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) function for hands-free communication. This allows you to transmit by speaking into the microphone without needing to press the PTT button, enhancing safety during driving.
