Model: NLQ3-125/2P

Brand: Fockety

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your Fockety NLQ3-125/2P Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Installation and servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel.

  • Always disconnect power before installing or servicing the ATS.
  • Ensure all wiring complies with local and national electrical codes.
  • The maximum ambient temperature should not exceed 40℃, and the minimum should not be lower than -5℃. The average temperature within 24 hours should not be higher than 35℃.
  • The altitude of the installation site should not be higher than 2000 meters.
  • When the maximum temperature reaches 40℃, the relative humidity of the installation site should not exceed 50%. At lower temperatures, such as -5℃, higher humidity is permissible (e.g., 90% at 25℃). Special measures may be required to address occasional condensation.
  • Do not operate the switch if it appears damaged.

3. Product Overview and Features

5. Setup and Installation

Before proceeding with installation, ensure all power sources are disconnected. Verify the integrity of the ATS unit. Use the operating handle to manually open or close the ATS to check the flexibility of the device and confirm the generation and disconnection conditions for each phase of the primary and backup power sources.

5.1 Mounting

The NLQ3-125/2P is designed for 35mm standard DIN rail mounting, making it suitable for installation in PZ30 distribution boxes.

5.2 Wiring Diagram

Refer to the following diagram for proper wiring connections. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly identified.

6. Operating Instructions

The ATS supports both automatic and manual operation modes. The selection switch on the front of the unit allows you to choose the desired mode.

Manual and Auto Switch on ATS

Figure 6.1: Close-up of the manual/auto selection switch and product rating label.

6.1 Automatic Mode (Auto)

In 'Auto' mode, the ATS will automatically detect the status of the normal power supply. If the normal power supply becomes abnormal (e.g., power outage), the switch will automatically transfer the load to the backup power supply within milliseconds. When the normal power supply is restored, the ATS will automatically switch the load back to the normal power supply.

6.2 Manual Mode (Manual)

In 'Manual' mode, the transfer between power sources is controlled manually using the operating handle. This mode is typically used for testing, maintenance, or in situations where automatic transfer is not desired.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your ATS.

  • Periodically inspect the unit for any signs of physical damage or overheating.
  • Check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Loose connections can lead to poor performance or hazards.
  • Keep the unit clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Test the manual operation periodically to ensure the mechanism moves freely.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ATS, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Issue: The ATS switches to backup power during an outage but does not return to normal power when it is restored.
Possible Cause: The automatic return mechanism may be obstructed or faulty, or the control circuit for normal power detection might have an issue.
Solution: Verify the normal power supply is stable. Check the control circuit connections. If the issue persists, switch to manual mode and attempt to return to normal power manually. If manual return also fails, contact qualified service personnel.
  • Issue: The ATS does not switch to backup power during an outage.
Possible Cause: Backup power supply issue, control circuit fault, or ATS malfunction.
Solution: Verify the backup power supply is operational. Check all control circuit connections. Ensure the ATS is in 'Auto' mode.
  • Issue: Overheating or unusual noises.
Possible Cause: Loose connections, overloaded circuit, or internal component failure.
Solution: Immediately disconnect power. Check all connections for tightness. Ensure the load does not exceed the rated current. If the issue continues, seek professional assistance.
