Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Braun MultiServe Coffee Machine KF9170SI and Braun KG7070 Burr Grinder. Please read all instructions carefully before using the appliances and retain this manual for future reference.
Important Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons. This includes:
- Do not immerse the appliance, plug, or cord in water or other liquids.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

Setup
Unpacking and Initial Cleaning
Carefully remove all packaging materials from both the coffee machine and the grinder. Wash the carafe, brew basket, water reservoir lid, and grounds container with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior surfaces of both appliances with a damp cloth.
Coffee Machine Assembly
- Place the coffee machine on a flat, stable surface.
- Ensure the water reservoir is properly seated.
- Insert the brew basket into its designated slot.
- Place the glass carafe on the warming plate.
Grinder Assembly
- Place the grinder on a flat, stable surface.
- Ensure the bean hopper is securely attached to the top of the grinder.
- Ensure the grounds container is correctly inserted into the front of the grinder.
Operating the Braun MultiServe Coffee Machine KF9170SI
Overview of Controls
The control panel features a digital display, brew size selector, strength selector buttons (Light, Gold, Bold, Over Ice), and function buttons (Auto On, Set, Clock, Clean, Power).

Brewing a Carafe of Coffee
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the desired level indicated on the side.
- Place a paper filter or the permanent filter (if included) into the brew basket.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. Refer to the coffee-to-water ratio guidelines for best results.
- Ensure the glass carafe is on the warming plate.
- Select the desired brew size using the selector dial.
- Choose your preferred strength (Light, Gold, Bold) by pressing the corresponding button.
- Press the Power button to start brewing.
Brewing a Single Cup
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water for the desired cup size.
- Place a paper filter or the permanent filter into the brew basket.
- Add ground coffee.
- Adjust the cup shelf to accommodate your mug.
- Select the desired single-cup brew size.
- Choose your preferred strength.
- Press the Power button to start brewing.

Iced Coffee Function
To brew iced coffee, fill the water reservoir to the indicated 'Over Ice' level. Fill your carafe or cup with ice. Select the 'Over Ice' strength setting and your desired brew size. Press the Power button. The machine will brew a concentrated coffee over ice.
Hot Water Function
To dispense hot water for tea or other beverages, ensure the brew basket is empty. Select the hot water icon on the brew size selector. Press the Power button. Hot water will be dispensed from the brew head.
Programmable Features
- Setting the Clock: Press the 'Clock' button, then use the 'Set' button to adjust hours and minutes.
- Auto On: Press the 'Auto On' button, then use the 'Set' button to program the desired brew time. The machine will automatically start brewing at the set time.

Operating the Braun KG7070 Burr Grinder
Filling the Bean Hopper
Open the lid of the bean hopper and pour whole coffee beans into the hopper. Do not fill past the 'MAX' line. Close the lid securely.

Selecting Grind Settings
The grinder offers 9 main grind settings and 6 intermediate options. Rotate the grind setting dial on the side of the grinder to select your desired fineness. Finer settings are suitable for espresso, medium for drip coffee, and coarser for French press.

Grinding Coffee
- Ensure the grounds container is properly inserted.
- Select the desired number of cups using the cup selector dial.
- Press the start button to begin grinding. The grinder will automatically stop once the selected amount is ground.
- Remove the grounds container and pour the fresh grounds into your coffee machine's filter.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Coffee Machine
- Daily Cleaning: Wash the carafe, brew basket, and water reservoir lid with warm, soapy water after each use.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Descaling: The 'Clean' indicator light will illuminate when descaling is required. Follow the descaling instructions in the full product manual, typically involving a descaling solution or vinegar solution.
Cleaning the Burr Grinder
- Grounds Container: Empty and wash the grounds container after each use.
- Burrs: Periodically remove the upper burr and clean both burrs with the provided cleaning brush to remove coffee residue.
- Bean Hopper: Wipe the inside of the bean hopper with a dry cloth to remove oil residue.
Troubleshooting
