3. Setup

3.1 Battery Charging

  1. Insert the modular battery into the charging cable.
  2. Connect the USB charging cable to a USB power adapter (5V/2A recommended).
  3. The indicator light on the battery will show charging status. Refer to the battery indicator guide for details.
  4. Charging typically takes approximately 90-120 minutes per battery.

3.2 Propeller Installation

Ensure propellers are correctly installed according to their rotation direction (A and B). Incorrect installation will prevent flight.

3.3 Remote Controller Setup

  1. Install 3 AAA batteries (not included) into the remote controller.
  2. Extend the phone holder on the controller to mount your smartphone.

3.4 App Installation and Connection

  1. Download the dedicated Holy Stone app from your smartphone's app store.
  2. Power on the drone and the remote controller.
  3. On your smartphone, connect to the drone's Wi-Fi network (usually named "HolyStone-HS155-XXXXXX").
  4. Open the Holy Stone app to establish a connection and view the FPV feed.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Pre-Flight Checklist

  • Ensure drone and controller batteries are fully charged.
  • Check propellers for damage and correct installation.
  • Confirm drone is placed on a flat, open surface.
  • Verify GPS signal acquisition (if flying outdoors).
  • Ensure the app is connected and displaying live feed.

4.2 Calibration

Before each flight, especially outdoors, perform compass and gyroscope calibration as instructed in the app or quick start guide. This ensures stable flight and accurate GPS positioning.

4.3 Takeoff and Landing

  • One-Key Takeoff: Press the one-key takeoff button on the remote controller or in the app. The drone will automatically ascend to a safe hovering altitude.
  • Manual Takeoff: Push both joysticks down and outwards to start the motors, then slowly push the left joystick up to ascend.
  • One-Key Landing: Press the one-key landing button. The drone will automatically descend and land.
  • Manual Landing: Slowly pull the left joystick down to descend, then push both joysticks down and inwards to stop the motors after landing.

5. Advanced Flight Modes

5.1 GPS Auto Return (RTH)

The RTH function allows the drone to automatically return to its last recorded home point. This feature is activated by One-Key Return, low battery voltage, or loss of signal connection with the remote controller. Ensure GPS signal is strong for accurate RTH.

5.2 Follow Me Mode

In Follow Me mode, the drone will automatically follow the remote controller or your smartphone (if connected via app), keeping you in the frame. Activate this mode via the app.

5.3 Waypoint Flight

Plan your flight path by tapping desired waypoints on the map within the app. The drone will then fly along the specified route automatically.

5.4 Circle Flight

In Circle Flight mode, the drone will fly in a circular path around a designated point, capturing panoramic footage. This mode is activated via the app.

5.5 Headless Mode

Headless mode simplifies control by eliminating the need to orient the drone. The drone's forward direction will be relative to the pilot's perspective, regardless of the drone's actual front. This is useful for beginners.

5.6 Beginner Mode

Beginner mode automatically sets limits on flight distance and altitude, providing a safer and more controlled flying experience for new users. This mode can be disabled via the app settings once you gain confidence.

6. Camera Operation

The HS155 is equipped with a 1080P HD camera for aerial photography and video recording. The camera angle can be adjusted by 90° manually before flight.

6.1 Taking Photos and Recording Videos

Use the dedicated buttons on the remote controller or the controls within the Holy Stone app to capture photos and start/stop video recording. Images and videos are saved directly to your smartphone via the app.

6.2 FPV Real-time Transmission

Connect your smartphone to the drone's Wi-Fi network and open the app to view a live feed from the drone's camera. This allows for real-time monitoring of your flight and precise framing of shots.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the drone body with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
  • Clean the camera lens gently with a microfiber cloth.

7.2 Propeller Replacement

If propellers are damaged, replace them immediately using the provided screwdriver and spare propellers. Ensure the new propellers are installed correctly (A and B types).

7.3 Battery Care

  • Do not overcharge or over-discharge batteries.
  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • If not used for an extended period, charge batteries to approximately 50-60% capacity.
