3. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation and Charging

1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place.
3. To charge, connect the Type-C cable directly to the battery or place the radio in the charging base station. The battery indicator will show charging status.
4. A full charge typically takes about 3 hours via Type-C or 5-7 hours with the seat charger.

4.2. Antenna Attachment

1. Screw the desired antenna (6.1-inch or 15.12-inch 771 antenna) clockwise onto the connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.3. Belt Clip and Hand Strap

1. Attach the belt clip to the designated slot on the back of the radio.
2. Thread the hand strap through the loop on the radio for secure carrying.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off and Volume

• To power on, rotate the volume knob clockwise. To power off, rotate it counter-clockwise until it clicks.
• Adjust the volume by rotating the same knob.

5.2. Channel Selection and Frequency Mode

• The radio supports 999 memory channels. Use the up/down arrow keys or the keypad to select channels.
• Press the VFO/MR button to switch between Frequency (VFO) mode and Channel (MR) mode.

5.3. Frequency Copy Function

The frequency copy function allows for quick pairing with other radios without PC programming.

1. Hold down the [-] button to activate COPY mode.
2. Press the # button to choose a band.
3. Press the Menu button to save the channel details.

Note: Hold down the # button to enter normal SCAN mode.

5.4. Multi-Band Operation and NOAA Weather Radio

The 5RM supports a wide range of frequencies:

• TX (Transmit): 136-174 MHz (VHF), 220-260 MHz (VHF2), 400-480 MHz (UHF)
• RX (Receive): 76-108 MHz (FM Broadcast), 108-136 MHz (AM Aviation Band), 136-174 MHz (VHF), 220-260 MHz (VHF2), 350-390 MHz (Police Band), 400-520 MHz (UHF)

The radio also includes a NOAA weather receiver function. Press the 0 button for 2 seconds to access preset NOAA weather channels.
