4. Setup and Installation

This downlight is designed for easy, canless installation directly into drywall. A 4-inch hole cutout is recommended.

  1. Prepare for Installation: Turn off power at the circuit breaker controlling the light switch location. Use a voltage tester to confirm power is off.
  2. Cut Hole: Using a 4-inch hole saw, cut a circular opening in the ceiling at the desired installation location. Ensure there are no obstructions (e.g., pipes, wires, joists) within the ceiling space.
  3. Wiring the Junction Box:
    • Open the remote junction box cover.
    • Remove the appropriate knockout(s) for your electrical supply cable.
    • Connect the supply wires: Black to Black (Live), White to White (Neutral), and Green or bare copper to Green (Ground). Secure connections with wire nuts.
    • Close the junction box cover.

  4. Secure Junction Box: Place the remote junction box into the ceiling opening. It is designed to fit through the 4-inch hole and can be secured to a ceiling joist or simply rest above the drywall.
  5. Connect Downlight to Junction Box: Connect the male connector from the downlight to the female connector on the junction box. Ensure the connection is firm.
  6. Select Color Temperature (CCT): Locate the CCT selectable switch on the side of the junction box. Slide the switch to your desired color temperature (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K).Close-up of CCT selectable switch on junction box

5. Operating Instructions

Your Maxxima LED Downlight offers adjustable brightness and color temperature settings.

  • Turning On/Off: Control the light using a standard wall switch connected to the fixture.
  • Dimming: This fixture is compatible with most standard LED dimmer switches (sold separately). Connect the downlight to a compatible dimmer to adjust brightness from 20% to 100%. Ensure your dimmer is rated for LED lighting.
  • Changing Color Temperature (CCT): The color temperature is selected via a switch on the remote junction box. To change the CCT:
    1. Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
    2. Carefully pull the downlight out of the ceiling opening to access the remote junction box.
    3. Slide the CCT switch on the junction box to your desired setting (2700K Soft White, 3000K Warm White, 3500K Bright White, 4000K Neutral White, or 5000K Daylight).
    4. Re-install the downlight into the ceiling.
    5. Restore power at the circuit breaker.
