1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your RecPro RV Dimmer Switch, Model RP-1151. This 12V DC high-side dimmer switch is designed for use in recreational vehicles and is compatible with various lighting types, including LED lights. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Incorrect wiring can lead to electrical shock, fire, or damage to the product and connected devices.

  • Always disconnect power to the circuit before installing or servicing the dimmer switch.
  • Ensure the operating voltage (12V DC) and current rating (10 Amps) of the switch are compatible with your RV's electrical system and connected lights.
  • Do not exceed the maximum wattage of 120 watts.
  • Install a 10A maximum fuse on the +12V input line as indicated on the switch.
  • Protect the switch from moisture and extreme temperatures. The International Protection Rating is IP54.

5. Setup and Installation

Before proceeding, ensure power to the circuit is disconnected. This dimmer switch is designed for 12V DC systems.

5.1. Wiring Diagram

Refer to the wiring diagram on the back of the switch and the instructions below for correct connections.

  • Red Wire: Connect to the +12V DC power source. Ensure a 10A maximum fuse is installed on this line.
  • Black Wire: Connect to the system's Ground (GND).
  • White Wire: Connect to the PWM V+ input of your LED lights or other compatible 12V DC lights.
  • 3-Way Switch Input: An additional input is available for connecting a 3-way switch, if desired, for multi-location control.

5.2. Mounting

The switch is designed for flush mounting. Ensure adequate space behind the mounting surface for the switch body and wiring.

  1. Cut an opening in the mounting surface according to the dimensions provided in Figure 3.
  2. Connect the wires as described in Section 5.1.
  3. Insert the switch into the opening and secure it using appropriate fasteners (not included, typically screws through the faceplate).
  4. Restore power to the circuit.

6. Operating Instructions

The RecPro RV Dimmer Switch features a dual-function design for easy lighting control.

  • ON/OFF Toggle Switch: Use the left-side toggle switch to turn the connected lights completely ON or OFF.
  • Dimmer Control Slider: Once the lights are ON via the toggle switch, use the right-side vertical slider to adjust the brightness level. Slide the control up for brighter light and down for dimmer light.

7. Maintenance

The RecPro RV Dimmer Switch requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the switch with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Periodically check wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion. Ensure the fuse is intact and correctly rated.
  • Fuse Replacement: If lights fail to turn on or dim, check the 10A fuse on the +12V line. Replace with a fuse of the same rating if blown.

8. Troubleshooting
