Setup
1. Installing/Removing the Battery Pack
The Parkside POFA 12 B3 operates with a 12V battery (2 Ah / 4 Ah recommended), which is not included. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- To install, slide the charged battery pack into the battery slot on the tool until it clicks into place.
- To remove, press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery pack out.
2. Installing/Changing Router Bits
Always ensure the battery is removed before changing bits.
- Press and hold the spindle lock button to prevent the spindle from rotating.
- Loosen the collet nut using the provided open-end wrench.
- Insert the desired router bit into the collet, ensuring it is seated firmly but not bottomed out.
- Tighten the collet nut securely with the wrench while holding the spindle lock button. Do not overtighten.
- Release the spindle lock button.
3. Adjusting Routing Depth
The router features a stepless depth adjustment with fine-tuning.
- Place the router on a flat surface.
- Loosen the depth adjustment locking lever/knob.
- Lower the router until the bit touches the workpiece surface.
- Use the fine-tuning knob or scale to set the desired routing depth.
- Tighten the depth adjustment locking lever/knob to secure the setting.
4. Attaching Dust Extraction
For a cleaner work environment and improved visibility, attach the dust extraction adapter.
- Slide the dust extraction adapter onto the designated port on the router base.
- Connect a suitable vacuum cleaner hose to the adapter.
Operating the Router
1. General Operation
- Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped.
- Hold the router firmly with both hands using the Softgrip handles.
- Press the power switch to start the router. Allow it to reach full speed before engaging the workpiece.
- Slowly plunge the router bit into the workpiece to the set depth.
- Move the router smoothly and consistently along the desired path. Always route against the direction of bit rotation for better control.
- When finished, lift the router clear of the workpiece and release the power switch.
2. Using the Parallel Guide
The parallel guide helps maintain a consistent distance from the edge of the workpiece.
- Attach the parallel guide rods to the router base.
- Adjust the guide to the desired distance from the router bit.
- Tighten the locking screws to secure the guide in place.
- During operation, keep the parallel guide firmly against the edge of the workpiece.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the router body, base plate, and collet area with a soft, dry cloth. Remove any sawdust or debris. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Router Bits: Keep router bits clean and sharp. Dull bits can cause kickback and poor cutting quality.
- Storage: Store the router and its accessories in the provided plastic carrying case in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
