Setup

1. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the radio's internal battery. Connect the supplied USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the back of the radio and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a powered USB port. The LED display will indicate charging status. A full charge provides approximately 8-9 hours of playback at 70% volume.

2. Extending the Antenna

For optimal DAB/DAB+ and FM radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press and hold the U (Power) button to turn the radio on or off.

Mode Selection

Press the Mode button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB, FM, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX.

DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Switch to DAB mode using the Mode button.
  2. The radio will automatically scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations upon first use or if no stations are found.
  3. Rotate the Volume/Select/Enter knob to browse through the list of available stations.
  4. Press the Volume/Select/Enter knob to select and play a station.
  5. Saving Presets: While a station is playing, press and hold the Preset button. Rotate the Volume/Select/Enter knob to choose a preset number (up to 80). Press the knob to confirm and save.
  6. Recalling Presets: Press the Preset button briefly. Rotate the Volume/Select/Enter knob to select a saved preset, then press the knob to play.

FM Radio Operation

  1. Switch to FM mode using the Mode button.
  2. Auto Scan: Press and hold the IN/ME button to initiate an automatic scan for FM stations. The radio will save found stations to presets.
  3. Manual Tuning: Briefly press the |<< or >>| buttons to fine-tune the frequency. Press and hold these buttons for automatic search to the next strong station.
  4. Saving Presets: While a station is playing, press and hold the Preset button. Rotate the Volume/Select/Enter knob to choose a preset number. Press the knob to confirm and save.
  5. Recalling Presets: Press the Preset button briefly. Rotate the Volume/Select/Enter knob to select a saved preset, then press the knob to play.

Bluetooth Mode

  1. Switch to Bluetooth mode using the Mode button. The display will show "Bluetooth" or a pairing indicator.
  2. On your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "Mycket-DAB-Retro-1" (or similar name) from the list to pair.
  4. Once paired, you can stream audio from your device to the radio. Use the |<< and >>| buttons to control track playback.

USB Disk Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive (U disk) containing MP3 audio files into the USB port on the radio.
  2. Switch to USB mode using the Mode button. The radio will automatically begin playing audio files.
  3. Use the |<< and >>| buttons to navigate between tracks.

AUX In Mode

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX In port using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
  2. Switch to AUX mode using the Mode button.
  3. Control playback from your connected external device.

Headphone Use

For private listening, plug 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the radio. The internal speaker will automatically mute.

Sleep Timer

The radio features a sleep timer function. Consult the on-screen menu (accessed via the IN/ME button) to set a desired sleep duration, after which the radio will automatically power off.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge the radio regularly, especially if it will not be used for an extended period.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause / Solution
Radio does not power on. Battery may be depleted. Connect the radio to a power source using the USB cable and allow it to charge. Ensure the power adapter is working.
Poor DAB/FM radio reception. Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Try repositioning the radio or the antenna. Ensure you are within a DAB/DAB+ broadcast area for digital radio. Obstructions like thick walls or other electronic devices can interfere with the signal.
Bluetooth device cannot pair. Ensure the radio is in Bluetooth mode and discoverable. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and it is within range (typically 10 meters). Try restarting both the radio and your Bluetooth device.
No sound from USB playback. Ensure the USB disk is properly inserted and contains supported audio files (e.g., MP3). Check if the radio is in USB mode. Adjust the volume.
Display is unreadable or frozen. Try powering off the radio and then powering it back on. If the issue persists, allow the battery to fully discharge and then recharge it.
