5. Setup & Installation
The ApeStellar Keyless Entry Door Lock is designed for easy installation, typically taking about 15 minutes with a screwdriver. Ensure your door meets the specifications listed in Section 4.
5.1 Pre-Installation Check
- Verify door hole diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm).
- Confirm door thickness is between 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35-45mm).
- Check backset measurement (distance from door edge to center of bore hole) is either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4".
- If an existing deadbolt overlaps with the keypad door knob, move the deadbolt to the bottom hole and install the keypad door knob on top.

5.2 Installation Steps
- Prepare the Door: Ensure the door is properly drilled according to the specifications.
- Install the Latch: Insert the latch into the door edge and secure it with screws. Adjust the backset if necessary.
- Install Exterior Assembly: Feed the cable from the exterior keypad assembly through the door hole. Ensure the spindle is correctly oriented.
- Install Interior Mounting Plate: Secure the interior mounting plate to the door using screws, ensuring the cable passes through the plate.
- Connect Cables & Install Interior Assembly: Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the interior assembly. Carefully align the interior assembly with the mounting plate and secure it with screws. Ensure the knob operates smoothly.
