Important Safety Instructions

Setup

1. Power Connection

1. Place the machine on a stable, flat surface.
2. Ensure the power switch is in the "OFF" position.
3. Insert the machine plug into the machine's power socket.
4. Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

2. Winding the Bobbin

1. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
2. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide and around the bobbin winding tension disc.
3. Insert the thread through the hole in the bobbin from the inside out.
4. Place the bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle and push it to the right.
5. Hold the thread end and press the foot controller. The bobbin will start winding.
6. Once the bobbin is full, cut the thread and push the bobbin winder spindle to the left. Remove the bobbin.

3. Inserting the Bobbin

1. Open the bobbin cover plate.
2. Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case with the thread unwinding counter-clockwise.
3. Guide the thread into the tension spring and then into the thread guide slot.
4. Close the bobbin cover plate.

4. Threading the Upper Thread

1. Raise the presser foot lifter.
2. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
3. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
4. Follow the numbered threading path down the front of the machine, around the tension discs, and up to the take-up lever.
5. Thread the take-up lever from right to left.
6. Continue guiding the thread down through the lower thread guides.
7. Use the automatic needle threader (if applicable) or manually thread the needle from front to back.
8. Pull about 6 inches of thread through the needle eye.

Operating Instructions

1. Stitch Selection

Turn the Stitch Selector Dial to choose one of the 21 available stitch patterns. Refer to the stitch chart on the machine for visual guidance.

2. Adjusting Stitch Length and Width

Use the Stitch Length & Zig Zag Width Control dial to adjust the desired stitch length and width for your chosen stitch pattern. Shorter lengths create denser stitches, while longer lengths create looser stitches. Width adjustments are primarily for zig-zag and decorative stitches.

3. Basic Sewing

1. Raise the presser foot.
2. Place the fabric under the presser foot, aligning the edge with a seam guide on the needle plate.
3. Lower the presser foot.
4. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle into the fabric at the starting point.
5. Press the foot controller gently to begin sewing. Guide the fabric smoothly without pulling or pushing.
6. To finish, sew a few reverse stitches (if applicable) to secure the seam. Raise the needle to its highest position, raise the presser foot, and remove the fabric. Cut the threads.

4. Automatic Needle Threader

The Singer M2605 features an auto needle threader for convenience. Ensure the needle is in its highest position. Lower the threader mechanism, hook the thread, and release. The thread will be pulled through the needle eye.

5. Four-Step Buttonholes

The machine is equipped with a 4-step buttonhole function. Refer to the specific instructions in the full manual for detailed steps on using the buttonhole foot and selecting the correct stitch settings for each of the four steps to create a perfect buttonhole.
