2. Placement Guidelines
- Place the baby unit (camera) at a distance of 5-6 feet (1.5-2 meters) from your baby's crib or bed. This distance helps prevent buzzing or beeping sounds and allows for optimal zoom functionality.
- Ensure the camera is placed on a stable, flat surface or securely mounted to a wall or crib using the provided options.
- Position the parent unit (monitor) in a location where you can easily view the screen and hear alerts.
- For optimal signal reception, lift the antenna on the parent unit.
3. Powering On
- Connect the power adapter to the baby unit and plug it into a power outlet. The baby unit is corded electric and designed for continuous operation.
- Connect the power adapter to the parent unit and plug it into a power outlet. The parent unit has a built-in rechargeable battery for portability.
- Press and hold the power button on the parent unit to turn it on. The HelloBaby logo will appear, and the screen will display the camera feed.
4. Camera Pairing (if needed)
Your HB6550 system typically comes pre-paired. If you need to add additional cameras (up to 4 total) or re-pair a camera, refer to the detailed pairing instructions in the full user manual. Generally, this involves accessing the camera settings on the parent unit and initiating a pairing sequence.
Operating the Monitor
1. Basic Controls
- Volume Control: Adjust the audio level using the dedicated buttons on the parent unit.
- Brightness Control: Modify the screen brightness for comfortable viewing in various lighting conditions.
- Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ): Use the directional buttons on the parent unit to remotely adjust the camera's viewing angle (355 degrees horizontal, 120 degrees vertical) and zoom in (2x optical zoom) for a closer look.

2. Smart Features
- Two-Way Talk: Press and hold the microphone button on the parent unit to speak to your baby through the camera's speaker. Release the button to hear your baby.
- VOX Mode (Voice Operated Exchange): This power-saving mode keeps the screen off until sound is detected from the baby's room. You can choose from 3 sensitivity levels. The screen will turn on automatically when your baby cries or makes noise.

- Temperature Monitoring: The baby unit includes a temperature sensor that displays the room temperature on the parent unit. Alerts can be set for temperature fluctuations. Note that the camera itself may heat up slightly when plugged in for extended periods, which can affect the displayed temperature by 2-4°F (1-2°C).
- Multi-Camera View: If you have multiple cameras, the parent unit can cycle through views from each camera automatically, or you can manually switch between them.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the monitor and camera units. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: To maximize battery life, avoid fully discharging the parent unit's battery frequently. Charge it regularly. The parent unit offers up to 26 hours of battery life in ECO mode and 16 hours with the screen continuously on.
- Signal Optimization: Ensure the antenna on the parent unit is lifted for the best signal strength, especially when monitoring across longer distances or through walls.
Troubleshooting
- No Signal/Poor Signal: Ensure the camera and monitor are within range (up to 1000ft in open areas). Obstacles like thick walls or other electronic devices can interfere with the signal. Try repositioning the units or lifting the antenna on the parent unit.
- Buzzing or Beeping Sound: This can occur if the camera and monitor are too close to each other. Maintain a distance of 5-6 feet (1.5-2 meters) between the units.
- Inaccurate Temperature Reading: The camera unit itself generates some heat when continuously plugged in, which can cause the displayed temperature to be slightly higher (by 2-4°F or 1-2°C) than the actual room temperature. This is normal operation.
- Microphone/Sound Issues: If the microphone or sound transmission is not working, ensure the volume is turned up on the parent unit. If issues persist, try restarting both units. For persistent problems, contact customer support.
- No On/Off Switch on Camera: The camera unit does not have a physical on/off switch. To turn it off, you must unplug the power adapter.
