- Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.
- This appliance is intended for household use only.
- Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.
- Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the appliance for any damage. Report any damage to your retailer immediately. Keep packaging materials out of reach of children.
3.2 Placement
Place the freezer on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance. Maintain a minimum distance of 10 cm (4 inches) from walls and other furniture to allow for proper air circulation and heat dissipation. Avoid placing the appliance in direct sunlight or near heat sources like radiators or ovens.
3.3 Door Reversal
The Beko FSE13040N features a reversible door, allowing the hinge to be mounted on either the right or left side to suit your kitchen layout. Refer to the detailed diagrams in the separate installation guide for step-by-step instructions on how to reverse the door. This process typically involves moving the hinges, door stopper, and handle to the opposite side.
3.4 Initial Power-on
After positioning the freezer, wait at least 4 hours before plugging it into the power outlet. This allows the refrigerant to settle. Once plugged in, the freezer will begin to cool. Allow it to operate for 2-3 hours empty before loading with food to ensure it reaches the optimal freezing temperature.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Temperature Control
The freezer is equipped with a thermostat to control the internal temperature. The recommended operating temperature for freezing food is -18°C. Adjust the thermostat dial or controls to set the desired temperature. Higher settings typically result in colder temperatures.
4.2 Fast Freeze Function
For rapid freezing of fresh food, activate the Fast Freeze function. This function quickly lowers the freezer temperature to preserve the quality and nutritional value of newly added items. Activate it approximately 24 hours before adding a large quantity of fresh food. Deactivate the function once the food is frozen, or it will automatically switch off after a certain period (refer to the appliance's display or indicator lights).
4.3 Food Storage Guidelines
Organize food within the three freezer drawers for efficient storage and easy access. Ensure food is properly sealed in airtight containers or freezer bags to prevent freezer burn and odor transfer. Do not place hot food directly into the freezer; allow it to cool down first.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain the efficiency and hygiene of your freezer. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning. Clean the interior with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Wipe dry thoroughly. The exterior can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
5.2 Defrosting
As the Beko FSE13040N uses a static cooling system, manual defrosting is required periodically. Frost buildup reduces efficiency and storage capacity. Defrost when the frost layer reaches about 5 mm (0.2 inches) thick. To defrost:
- Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
- Remove all frozen food and store it in a cool place or insulated container.
- Leave the freezer door open to allow the frost to melt naturally. You can place towels at the bottom to absorb water. Do not use sharp objects or heating devices to speed up defrosting.
- Once all frost has melted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly.
- Plug the freezer back in and allow it to cool down before returning food.
6. Troubleshooting
Before contacting service, check the following common issues:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Freezer not cooling | No power; thermostat set too high; door not closed properly. | Check power supply; adjust thermostat; ensure door is sealed. |
| Excessive frost buildup | Door left open frequently; warm food placed inside; faulty door seal. | Minimize door openings; allow food to cool; check and clean door seal. |
| Unusual noise | Appliance not level; objects touching the back; normal operating sounds. | Level the appliance; ensure clearance; gurgling/humming sounds are normal. |
If the problem persists after checking these points, please contact qualified service personnel.
